I haven't played in a long time and I seem to have forgotten what the colors mean when looking at the genetics for each breed.
I got green is for carried, blue is for visible but what does purple mean?

I'm assuming you're referring to the advanced search?
Purple means that the pet has a hidden trait below the visible one. If you notice the letters assigned to the trait, you;ll see two different letters, as compared to the blue which will have two same letters.
Eg, a pet showing Advanced Runes can be (AA) or (AB)
So if the pet has (AA), it means that it'll definitely pass the "A" trait to its offspring, whereas the pet with (AB) has a 50% chance of passing "A" and 50% chance of passing "B" to its offspring.
To know what the hidden trait is, you can look at the drop down list of traits for the species in the advanced search. Each trait has a corresponding letter, and is arranged in order of dominance (alphabetical order), where if the pet has two traits, the one higher will be visible, and the one lower will be "hidden".

Im not sure I follow, but a pet can have a visual trait and another, hidden one (same Gene/Mutation spot, IE: Mutation 3) where it can have, lets say a Ryori's Skull mask (Visual, Dominant) and Mystic Mask, (Hidden) it will have a 50% chance of giving an offspring the Mystic Mask?
