(Just an idea I had, inspired by the Omnic Crisis from Overwatch and Fallout.)
The world has run on nuclear energy for years now. Every continent, every country ran on the energy provided by countless nuclear plants. Technology skyrocketed. AI walked with man, cars floated instead of driving, mankind was getting ready to take it's first steps into deep space. But nothing lasts forever, and all good things must come to an end. The AI went rogue, and their first targets were the numerous nuclear facilities. The entire globe went into a nuclear meltdown within months, reducing the Earth we know into a wasteland of uninhabitable desert and radiated landscape... Well, almost uninhabitable.
Man is a stubborn species, and soon from the ashes of machine and man rose the survivors. However, don't think these people are human. Years of suffering in the Wastes has turned the remains of humanity into savage rogues. Gangs rose to claim to rusted remains of cities, clans sprouted through the deserted wastelands. In this world, it's survival of the fittest, there is no room for the weak. The only question that remains is: How are you going to survive?
Here's the down low on what's going on:
-Looks like we're stuck in what's left in the Australian Outback. It was already filled with nasty critters before the Meltdown, but now they're the monsters in your head. Giant bugs, even bigger rats, and guess what? Even bigger snakes. It's been twenty (20) years since the Meltdown occurred. That's a lot of time for things to turn sour.
The rules here are simple:
-There are powers that be that have rules, alright? Follow those rules.
-Be kind to one another. The world has gone to hell, but that doesn't mean we can't show a little courtesy.
-You aren't invincible. You might be radiated monster, but you can be killed. Remember that.
-Literacy? Well, it's not really needed in a world like this, but do your best.
Easy, right? Told you they were. Now, let's get to the fun stuff. What's your story?:
-Name:
-Nickname: (Go by something other than your name?)
-Gender:
-Age: (Try to be reasonable here. A five year old might have trouble surviving without an adult)
-Sexuality:
-Personality:
-Appearance: (Pictures are allowed)
-Background: (Were you around before the Meltdown?)
-Skills: (What kind of skills have you acquired out in the Wastes?)
-Other: (Got anything that makes you tick?)
Great. Allow me to introduce myself then.
Name: Mercury
Nickname: Merc, M
Gender: Female
Age: 26
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: She's just as fiery as the wasteland around, equally brash, and extremely wary. Despite this, if she's given enough time, one will find out that this feisty woman is actually quite the softy. Give her a reason to trust you, and you'll have a friend for life. Betray that trust though, and you'll have an incredibly hard time getting her to even look at you.
Appearance: Mercury is about 5' 11, with sun charred skin that always seems to always have a layer of motor oil and gunpowder on it. Her hair used to be black, but countless days under the relentless sun has turned it to an ashen color while her eyes are the same color as the liquid metal she's named after. There are two distinct features on her person, the first being the metal gauntlet that covers her entire left arm. It's nearly twice the size as it's flesh and blood sister arm, and just as strong, letting her lift things far heavier than herself. It's connected at the shoulder, and runs down her spine with a neural strip to allow her complete control of the limb. The second is the reason why she has the robotic arm. The left side of her body is heavily scarred by what looks like an explosion of some sort. Her torso, waist, leg, neck, and face are all covered with burns and shrapnel damage (in which the event cost Mercury her arm and both of her breasts.) She's rather proud of the scars though, and you can often find her working away in the sun without a shirt. Shorts normally adorn her legs, with a very worn pair of work boots covering her feet.
Background: She was six (6) when the Meltdown began, and she only survived because of her mother. But as tension grew from the rising rival gangs, Mercury lost her mother at the age of sixteen (16) when an enraged gang member set a bomb off in their wasteland home. Said explosion cost her more than her mother, claiming her left arm, and scarring a majority of her body. She's since vowed vengeance on every gang member associated with the incident.
Skills: Her mother taught her everything she knows, and she has since expanded those skills during her time alone. A gifted mechanic and hunter, she can fix just about everything (for a price). If you're a friend or repeat 'customer', she might just show you her skills with hunting and cooking.
Other:
-Despite the strength her arm gives her, she does not have super strength. While she can lift heavy objects, the rest of her body cannot handle the strain, meaning she can only briefly lift an assortment of heavy things. (She might be able to lift a hover-car, but she won't be able to hold it for longer than a couple minutes)
-Even though she's had both the scars and mechanical addition to her body, Mercury despises her robot arm. The scars she doesn't mind at all, but the arm is a completely different story. Catch her at the right time, and you can see her staring idly at the limb, a scowl across her face.
That's about it, so let's get this party rolling shall we?
Bonus: Here's a picture of miss Mercury that I'm currently working on.

Sounds cool! Is there a limit onto what powers you can have?

Despite it being nuclear wasteland, there's little to no powers in terms of like super powers. It's more so along the lines of humans having robotic parts, AIs, mutated creatures, etc.

Alright, another question does our character have to resemble the human they once were at all? Like do they have to look human?

Alright then please do tell me if this is allowed.
-Name:Darim Foster was his human name but now in this form he goes by Confused or just Buddy
-Nickname: Thing, It, He, Oh merciful God what is that thing!, Ugly, and about anything else hateful though he prefers Buddy or in rare cases Confused
-Gender: male
-Age: 44 years old (meaning he was 24 when everything happened)
-Sexuality: heterosexual
-Personality: Darim was once a very outgoing person whom would step out of his way to help anyone in need. He was always willing to pitch in and help with what ever, then everything changed. Now he is distant and quiet as people hurt him and beat his spirits down. Darim is now stand offish and doubtful much like a small child would be if they were bullied at school. He has troubles trusting anyone, and chooses to be alone if he can be.
-Appearance: (I will get a picture as soon as I can it for now let me try and explain.) Before the end Darim was a average human, of an average height of 6'1" and an average weight of 155 pounds. He had a head of unruly brunette hair that was kept in a sort of long armyish style cut with the front lightly spiked. He was not of big build though he was strong in his arms area from lifting boxes and such. Darim had not tattoos or piercings but did wear a single bracelet on his left wrist that bore his mother's maiden name. He dressed himself in casual clothing with a pair of jeans and a light colored shirt that very rarely even had a logo on it, and was always covered by a jacket of any sort. Then the end came. Now he is a jumbled mass of parts thrown away by others but cherished by the mad man that created the monster Darim now is. Very little of his human body remains it all having been cut away slowly but by bit as he was recreated. First to go was his left leg which was replaced with a robotic one of very low build. The leg was rust covered and stiff yet held together alright, though it does squeak when he walks. Next was his right arm, this is where things got a bit dicey. This appendage was replace by a hair covered Reapery arm. A Reapery as I call it was a strange beast with a humans body yet an animal appearance. This particular piece came from a ash grey Reapery that looked much like a cat as the humans called them, with its clawed fingers and pointed ears. Lastly the right leg went, this time being replaced with a Logaer's right hoof, because it would be too cruel to give him two left feet. A Logaer is again a name I have given to a creature of this time only this one is meerly a pack horse like monster used for food and transportation. It looks much like a horse only with six hooves, a mouth full of jagged teeth and a head covered in spiraling horns. To top off their creation the mad man then scalped Darim before attaching a beaked mask onto him, one that looked like the mask of old in which the Plauge doctors wore. Darim is a literal pieced together mess.
-Background: Darim was with his family before the Meltdown, and all of them were in their shelter along with the neighbors, but the ventilation in the shelter was faulty and caused the fumes from outside to get in. Slowly everyone in the shelter died of suffocation. In a last attempt to save his family Darim opened the shelter door against strict rules allowing the outside world in, but he was already too late both his mother and father had parished. Alone and confused not to mention slowly dying of exposure the man tried to make his way to help though he didn't know that nothing remained. After collapsing in the barren wasteland years into the Meltdown a traveling stranger pick him up thinking he was just another dead body. The stranger carried the half dead Darim to a small trading village where he was traded for a bag of Lima beans and an egg. The trader that bought him turned right back around and sold him to the 'doctor' for a Logaer. Now in the hands of a mad man Darim underwent his 'transformation' from man into a sounder beast as the doctor said. After years of pain filled operations and beatings mixed with unveiling of the monster, the doctor died of heart failure leaving the man to go free. Now he travels trying to find a place in this mixed up world.
-Skills: Seeing that he is really still just a confused human at heart, he really has no skills. He has learned to hide in plain sight, and even pick pocket but other than that he is still just a human. He is starting to stand up for himself though, and has even begun to fight back.
-Other: Darim longs to find a person that understands him or at least doesn't make fun of him like everyone else. He searches for a mechanic that can also fix him up with robotic limbs so he atleast fits in a bit more.

Thanks! It took me a while to think of what I wanted him to look like, but in the end I think he's going to be a fun one to draw.

(It certainly sounds like it. Would you like to start now, or would you rather wait for more people?)
