how do you use a genetic mutator on a pet and is it only usable on captured and hatched pets or can it be used on a generated pet to?

You can use a genetic mutator by going to your pet's profile and clicking the use genetic philter button (paraphrasing here). They can be used on any pet (not too sure about generated ones though) as long as they haven't bred, and mutators can only be used once per pet.

Genetic mutators can only be used on captured pets. If you hover your mouse over the item in the inventory, it's written in the description. So it won't work on bred or generated pets. And it doesn't matter whether the pet has been bred before or not, so long as it has not been mutated before. There will be a symbol on the pet's profile page if it has been mutated before.


If you're using lesser mutator, it can give either a visible or a carried trait. You can't see what carried trait the pet has unless it's been genetically tested.
