Alright, I'm not sure if a thread similar to this has been made before (I'm new-ish, and I didn't see one on the first few pages.) Let's talk about horror games!
My personal favorites are the Outlast series (really excited for #2 in the fall), FNAF, Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Dead Space, Amnesia, Bioshock, Fatal Frame, and I'm currently working my way through the Penumbra series.
I'm curious to hear about you guys' faves, and if you have any other recommendations! Other than that, chat away! Please be sure to label if your post has spoilers for games and such. (I don't care personally, but others might.)
Please abide by the site's rules when discussing games that include sexual themes/situations and violence.

I really like FNaF, Resident Evil, Amnesia, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, The Joy of Creation, Until Dawn, Lone Survivor, and Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. I just love the rush you get when a jumpscare pops up, although I've become pretty much immune cause of all the jumpscare's I've seen.

There was a thread... like 10 months ago, you should be safe. :p
Darn, you two are brave! xo I tried playing Outlast but I really don't like the run-and-hide type of horror games. D:
I do however love these on official consoles:
Bioshock, Theresia (ds), Resident Evil, Year Walk, I really, really wanna play Silent Hill, and Shin Megami Tensei (I don't think it's necessarily horror, but it has a lot of monsters/some have horror-like elements).
And love these free RPG Maker horror games:
OFF, Blood of Akemi, Yume Nikki, Ao Oni, and Corpse Party (was originally a free online game but got so insanely popular that it is on PSP and will soon be on 3ds in Japan).
I like spooky creatures and sort of an unsettling atmosphere the most. c:
I suggest OFF for first time RPG Maker players, it's a little bit older so you have to be careful of spoilers. It's a standard battling RPG style.

Corpse Party is also a very good one. I don't remember which one and this makes me sound like a creep but I love the part in one game when (I think it was Ayumi or Naomi?) who get their eyes stabbed out with scissors. I think that's the typical type of horror but good nonetheless.

Ao Oni was soooooooo underrated omg, i enjoyed that one so much!
I have a serious and problematic obsession with Outlast bordering on the need for therapy XD I will spread the good word of Mount Massive Assylum. If it's the spook aspect that gave you trouble with Outlast but you still want to see it, may I suggest the YouTube channel SurvivalHorrorNetwork? They do really great quality cinematic playthroughs, very enjoyable for those whose gaming skills aren't up to par, or simply can't afford to buy the games. My boyfriend and I do "movie" nights while viewing their playthroughs once in awhile
I'll have to look into corpse party, I've heard good things about it!

@Purebloodblackrose
I'm embarrassed to say how long it took me to figure out how to run from one of the attacking things. ._.;; So many deaths... Waiting through so many long death cut scenes. xc
@Arle
Subscried~ I don't like the stressful build up and jump when my not so fast rear gets found. =o=;
With Corpse Party I suggest buying it, the old free version is... very old. At least the version I played. For obvious reasons the released on PSP version is much more polished and has more cut scenes (I don't remember if the original even did, I'm pretty sure it had few or none.).

Hello! I don't play many horror games, but I LOVE to watch people play them. I am so freakin excited for the new Outlast, I think I'm going to die before it comes out. If your looking for a good horror game to play, you should really look at The Evil Within. It's a really good game to say the least. I love Resident Evil! Number four was my favorite, though six was really good.
