I realize you're probably right in the middle of changing around stuff with the quest log, but I thought it might help to know, I have an old in-progress quest that isn't showing up in the new quest format (nightfall bandit camp, recovering lost supplies), possibly because I haven't finished it despite moving forward to other areas? Also, my completed quests in the old template isn't opening (I click on the green area and nothing happens even though it shows I have (1) completed. I assume,though that this is the quest I just completed, which is showing up in the new format.

I'm going to do non-quest stuff now and I don't need a reply on this or anything (although if there is something I need to do ping me) - I only posted just in case the info will be helpful.

P.S. the new template looks nice!

@Diaveborn,

Yea, atm the two Quest Logs are completely separate from one another. This will obviously be fixed in the future.

For now though, there's a link at the bottom that allows you to view the old Quest Log.

*nod* It seems like everything (from what I can tell with my limited number of quests) is on at least one of them so that should make things workaroundable for sure.

Now my in-progress ones in the old template aren't opening.

Also, I'm really confused about completed quests in the new template. I have one that says "completed" but since it's still there, I thought I had completed the requirements but not actually finished it and claimed the reward - yet, there is no way to do that. So maybe I already finished the whole thing and got the reward? But if that's the case: how are those type of quests distinguished from ones where I met the requirements but need to get the reward still, and when would completely-finished quests leave the list? (as I only have one quest in the new list that isn't #/#, and I would have assumed quests left the list once a reward was chosen and the quest completely finished)

Once a quest is Completed, it stays in your Quest Log so that you can view it whenever you want to read what you did.

This is so if you're interested in the storyline but forgot a part of it, you can view your Quest Log for a recap.

Thanks for the reply!!

I guess I got confused because it was the only completed thing there. I suppose the ones I completed before the new template wouldn't be there, but I thought I had completed something after the new template and didn't see it anymore. But that could be my mistake or possibly stuff during the beginning of transition to the new template didn't get saved, or something like that.

What do things say when we're finished the requirements but haven't claimed the reward? Is it just 1/1 or 6/6 or whatever?

I think it's something like Completed?

And yes, quests from Viridian Meadows are not coded to work with the new Quest Log. This will obviously be fixed when we revamp that region.

*nod* I think people who are used to things may be able to understand the difference between stuff like "Complete" and "Completed", or "Complete" in different colors, or subtle differences like that - but I think for new players it could get very confusing.

I know MMOs in general (at least from my experience) have a big learning curve when you are playing a new one. Even if you're familiar with other MMOs, each one has a lot of new stuff to learn. Usually (again in my own experience,) MMOs will have wikis or other systems of learning about that new stuff, because not all of it is going to be stated directly in the game (if every single thing had to be explained in game interfaces the games would be very unwieldy). But I am guessing that whenever information can be presented in the same amount of space in a clear way instead of an unclear way, it could only help new-player retention, and when MMOs are by nature complicated anything that can cut down on unnecessary confusion is a good thing.

I really hope I'm not coming across as too critical. I personally have left several MMOs (I'm not a hardcore MMO player so maybe I wasn't the target demographic of the games I left, but then Sylestia strikes me as less "all about hardcore players") because they were too confusing to play. I'd hate to see even one person leave Sylestia before they even got started and that probably means I'm being a little over-reactey about this particular issue (it's not like one wording choice is going to cause huge amounts of people to not play) but I did want to share my thoughts.
