If you have adult pets, you can breed them amongst themselves (if same species), or with other people's pets. Use the advanced search (top left corner) to search for pets up for public breeding. You can choose species, gender, traits, price, etc.

You can also buy pets by searching through the advanced search.

Or when you explore, you can buy traps to catch pets from the wild. Note that it is not guaranteed that the trap will work each time, so usually you'll need a few traps to catch one pet.

Also, If you have essences, you can generate a pet from it. These can be obtained through battling, nurturing, mission satchels, Jinxie's Jamboree, or the trade broker or the diamond shop. These are very difficult to obtain, however, and you generally need to be very patient to obtain them.

You can also get pets through nurturing. If you get enough scales, and go to the scale shop, you can buy egglings.

Um I'm a newbie too, but when I was at the windmill I found an egg all on its own, so I'm guessing you can find eggs all on their own, I'm thinking it might be rare though cause no mentioned it here. Also are we allowed to visit the windmill again because I would like to catch some creatures I found there, and that egg I was talking about earlyer how do I hatch it?

Once you cleared the windmill, you can't go back again. It's the only area that can't be explored one it's cleared.

The egg will hatch when it's ready. If you look at the pet profile, under genetics, there's a bar with a number __/72. That's the egg maturity in hours. Once it reaches 72hous, it'll be ready to hatch.

Nurturing helps an egg hatch faster. Every 5 nurtures add an hour to maturity.

When it's ready to hatch, you'll have 3 options. If you have philters, you can use it to increase the pet's stat. If you choose to "help the egg hatch" it'll have a small increase in health. If you "let the egg hatch" it'll have a small increase in either strength, intelligence, dexterity, or agility.
