I rose out of bed with a growl as my alarm went off. School. Hell for a kid like me. Yes, I was actually top of my class, but so many annoying pricks. It's like no one ever even sees we are above hell yet so many demon run around torturing souls for fun.
Can't say I'm any different though, after all...a demon knows what a demon does. I'm not pure human, I just seem like it. I actually have a darkness in my heart that...pft! Nope, not that kind of story.
I'm Near, my friends are Demo and Ciph. We are three of the most insane people in the town we call home. I'm the group leader, always making a joke about something and usually tackling my friends to the ground or just annoying them until they say to stop. Demora, or Demo for short, is our nerd, always reading and making sure no one is doing something too stupid. Ciph, also known as Cipher or Ciphera, is the group's techy. There is not a game in the world she hasn't gotten her hands on.
Together we are known as the insane group by our schoolmates. Though each of us are getting close to graduating. We do almost everything together, despite our strange differences. For example no where else in the world would you find a angel dragon, a fox, and a wolf hanging out like family. Yep, you heard me. We are true Furries. Demo is the fox, Cipher is the wolf, and I'm the angel dragon.
"Near! Stop writing for a sec and check this out!" Cipher says.
I roll my eyes and look at her screen to see it was a convention near us that is cheep enough for the three of us to get in with money to spare.
"Wow, and look, open to any furry." Demo says.
I nod and smiled, "We should go."
"Definitely, I wanna see if Niic or Telephone is there."
"Cipher, you are a strange one."
"So? You fan over Pacori."
"Both of you cut it out, we are going." I cut in.
The two look at me and nod. We wait for school to end before heading to Demo's house to get suited up. I had talked to my mom who said she will drive us there so I was even more happy to go when she pulled up in Demo's drive way. We jumped in and headed for the convention.
When we got there, people were already entering the building and a few were outside talking. I noticed a deer and another angel dragon waiting outside to pay. I look to Demo who was dressed in her slender themed fox suit with her slender marking on her back. Her tail was held in her arms to keep it from getting to dirty before we got in. Cipher was in her white wolf suit with electric blue lines going down from her muzzle to her tail tip. She let her tail hang down and skid lightly along the ground behind her. I looked down at my white bellied dark black and gray angel dragon suit before taking out the money from the small pocket in my head and handing it to the ticket person. I watched the angel dragon walk beside the deer who was currently talking to a few people.
"Hey, I'll be back." I tell my two friends.
They look at me but shrug and go back to hanging out with a few other furries.
"Excuse me, My name is Near, what's yours?" I ask the two.
"I'm Lily, this is my friend Angel." The deer says gesturing to the angel dragon.
"Nice to meet you, those two over there are my friends Demo and Cipher." I say pointing to the two.
Angel giggles as Cipher darted this way and that talking to people while Demo just looked around for her favorite soda roo.
"So, what brings you here?" I ask trying to keep up the conversation as to not look like a fail.
"We live near here and had enough to get in, so we did." Lily says.
"Lily!" A voice calls.
"Josh! Angel, I'll be back, got to talk to Josh." Lily says leaving to find the voice's owner.
"So...um...do you live around here?" Angel asks.
"Ya, not to far from here, actually." I answer.
"That's nice, we should...uh...hang out sometime. you know...out of the suits."
"I'd like that."
She smiled and I could tell we were becoming friends. In fact, a few years after that, we actually began to date. I was happy to be with her, Demo and Cipher were happy too, as I always had a hard time getting and keeping a girlfriend. Boy's were potential but this girl was perfect. We had a lot in common and often enough, we would talk about us becoming more. So when our third year anniversary came around I had Demo, Cipher, and Lily help me set something up so that I could propose to her. She said yes to me and since then we have been together. |
