Just wanted to let everyone know that we are aware of the lag that keeps occurring every night between 6pm and 8pm. We are working on trying to figure out the source and resolving the issue.

We apologize for any inconvenience during this time.

Thanks a ton! It actually occurs on a site I'm also on that also uses the same... I don't know... Software for its servers? That cloudflare thing. The site gets lag around the same time.

Found any progress on the lag? It's getting pretty severe, some nights its taking 5 minutes for an action to progress.

@Rethelen,

Unfortunately not. Our Host can't find anything wrong the server so I've been pointed to Cloudflare. All our Host can say is that when there's lag, there's a spike in incoming connections from Cloudlare IPs.

I may have found the source of the problem - cometchat.

I created a script that purges the cometchat tables once a week. I think the issue was that they were so large that during peak times, every once in awhile a surge in requests would be made and some queries were taking up to 5 seconds (which is like, crazy long for a query) and locking the table. When a table is locked, additional queries can't be made. Since basically anyone logged in is pinging Cometchat nonstop, if it can't access cometchat any page will freeze until it can load.

Blah blah blah - hopefully this will fix the problem. If not, then back to the drawing board lol.

So does the lag seem fixed? Watching the server tonight, I didn't see any lag spikes.
