Hi! I would like to start a breeding project, but I have no idea how to start...

Please let me know how you come up with the ideas (or if there is a list somewhere on the sylestia website) and how you are able to create pictures of them to post on the thread before they are created.

Thanks so much!

Take Care,
Katie

Creating a breeding project really differs from person to person.
Some use essences to create pets with the coloration and traits they want, others breed from pets with the traits they want and later dye the finished pet, still others just buy multi-vis pets and dye them.

For me personally, it depends on whether I'm doing a themed pet project, or a "custom" project.

For themed pets, since the coloration is already fixed, I'll just play with the image code until I find a good combination of traits from the traits that exist within the gene pool of that themed. Usually most of the traits will be in pets that I own, or can find on public breeding. If not, I will pm the owner of the pet with traits I'll like, to see if we can work something out for breeding. (Doesn't always work out).

For custom pets, I'll play in the generator. Most of the time there is something that inspired me, that I really want, that caused me to play there. Could be an image I saw, a theme, a festival, etc. Other times is when I'm bored, and I just mix some of my favourite traits and colours until I come up with something I like. Once I have a goal, I'll look for pets on public breeding with the traits I want, then breed until I get the final pet, and dye it.

If I had inspiration, the project would be named based on it. If it was just random fun, then I'll slowly come up with a suitable name for the project once I create it. lol.
(I know some players create their project, then ask other players to help come up with a suitable name.)

To post images in forum threads, just copy the image url of the pet once you're done playing with the generator. click the IMG button on the top right of the message box, and paste the image between the square brackets.

Eg: [ img]https://www.sylestia.com/image_builder_pet.php?ec=00FFFF&c1=694724&c2=FFFFFF&c3=FFFFFF&ac=FFFFFF&gd1c=FFFFFF&gd2c=FFFFFF&gd3c=8FF9FF&md1c=FFFFFF&md2c=57A0FF&md3c=FFFFFF&gd1=00&gd2=00&gd3=BB&md1=00&md2=QQ&md3=00&species=zolnixi&gender=female&gender=female&maturity=216&size=200[/img]

The main thing is just to have a goal to work towards to. If you're doing a themed project, load the pet's image url to the generator and try out different combinations of traits until you find one that you like. You only need to take note that not all traits exist in all the themes.

If you're doing a custom project, just go wild ;)

I personally prefer to breed, then dye the final project cause scales/dyes are easier to come by than essences. Except for special cases like valentine lace, that could only be obtained by generating pets during the week of love, then you'll have to go the essences route. =P
