I read somewhere that if you breed a Sylesti with a Carried Trait in one slot, with a Sylesti with none in the same slot, it's a 50% chance the offspring will have a carried trait.
But I've been breeding for a while in this situation for my Project, Fiery War Nytes, and I'm getting nothing, carried or visibles. Am I just unlucky or have I misunderstood something in the ways of breeding Sylesti?

Each time you breed there is a 50% chance of a carry. However, just like rolling a die, just because you rolled a six this time, it does not change your odds of rolling a six next time. You could roll the die a million times and never roll a six, or you could roll a six every time. The odds don't change with the number of rolls (or the number of breedings in this case). The odds are the odds.
So... yes, you're just getting unlucky XP
To visualize what's happening: just like with real life genetics, the child gets half of its traits from the mother and half from the father. You might have noticed that each gene and mutation are denoted by two letters. These letters tell you what trait markers the pet has.
So, say you have a zolnixi with Gene slot 2s that look like this:
Mother
G2: AA
Father
G2: NN
Since A is the letter for Marbled Fox, the mother has Marbled Fox visible with no extra trait hidden. The father's NN shows that he has no traits there at all (currently N is a placeholder for no trait)
This means that every time you breed this pair, the mother will always give an A and the father will always give an N, because that is all they have. In this case, children will always have Marbled Fox carried.
However, if we had this:
Mother
G2: NA
Father
G2: NN
You can see that the mother has carried Marbled Fox while the father, again, has nothing. This time the mother can give either an A or an N, while the father can still only give an N. So there is a 50% chance of a baby getting a carried, and 50% chance of it getting nothing.
That's really all there is to it ^.^

I took a look at your project offspring, and you haven't genetically tested them. So they may in fact have carries.
A pet that has been genetically tested has this symbol:
Sorry for no screenshot, but if you look on this pet here, you will see that he has 2 vis and 3 carried. The carried are in italics, and they won't show up until the pet has been tested. If your sylesti isn't tested, you are missing out on all the markings, which makes breeding harder xD
Since a genetic tester costs 1500 diamonds in the diamond shop, it takes awhile to save up. But luckily there are some very nice people who will test your pet for free until you can buy your own. If you look on this board, there are usually a couple threads with people offering those services. Hope that helps and your project goes well :D
