My idea is a wild percentage bar. Imagine this:
You have a wolf, and you want to create a new breed of dog, so you cross it with a german shepherd. The offspring you get is going to have the instincts of it's wolf parent, making it very dangerous. People using wolves in breeding have to breed the wolf instincts out through hundreds or thousands of generations before the animal is remotely safe, or so my research has told me.
Anyway, now imagine you have a morkko that is he offspring of many before it. It's ancestors were tamed and dangerously wild, so they're bar or meter would be far on the wild side. But as they bred farther and farther away from the tamed parents, he meter slowly dips toward the tame side.
Then say you breed that perfectly tame offspring with a freshly caught morkko. You are going to be right back where you started.
Now to put the purpose of this meter into action! Let's say the tamer your pet gets, the better it obeys in battle. Perhaps it has a better percentage of getting a critical hit. Or maybe it boosts the stats. Stat projects, I have heard, need philters to be done. Perhaps this could be another way to boost stats without philters.
Not only do I think this would be a fun, character touch to our pets, but I think it could make offspring more valuable as well. I haven't the slightest idea if it's possible, but thought maybe it would be cool :) please tell me what you think
edit: I should note this wouldn't be meant to lower any current stats, just raise any that were affected

I like the idea of caught sylestis being 'wild', then either the more you hold onto it, the tamer it becomes or like you said, the children are more tame, and the grandchildren are even more tame.
"Let's say the tamer your pet gets, the better it obeys in battle."
If there is a con, there should also be a pro towards having a wild pet. How about a "beserk" mode for wild pets, or were you thinking along these lines?

Berserk mode, I like that :o So like, if it is on the more wild side, in battle it may have a spurt of really strong moves? Or, a higher percentage of critical hit?

Personalities, moral, mood, etc. are all things we are planning for the future Sylestia revamp for pets. Something like this would fit those ideas perfectly. =)
