So I was recently helping a friend set up a project with essences, and I figured I'd make all of my trait-mapping simpler by providing links to the image codes. My friend could just copy the image codes, load them into the generator, and generate the pets, no problem.
Houston Krinadon, we have a problem.
When I previewed the message to make sure that the links worked right and loaded fine, I found that all of the carried traits just wouldn't show up when I plugged the image codes into the generator. The visible traits acted just fine, but that was it. A 1V/2C image code loaded a pet with just 1 visible, and a 4 carry image code loaded a pet with no traits at all.
One glance at the coding was all it took for me to realize what was acting up. When you take an image from the generator, carried traits are marked with a 0 instead of an N before the trait designation. (0A, 0B, 0C, and so on, instead of NA, NB, NC, and so on.) The 0's were the only difference in the code, and once I changed everything to the older N format instead, the image codes loaded up just fine.
I was able to work around it easily enough because I can remember the older image codes, but newer players and those who aren't familiar with the image codes may start to have trouble with generated pet images. If they take an image code with carries right out of the generator and try to load it back in later, the carried traits will all vanish.
(Secondary note just to tack onto this... Will we ever be able to see recessives in the generator? It's pretty much the only reason I still prefer opening pet images in new tabs as opposed to loading them in the generator: remove the dominant trait from the image code to see the recessive as a visible instead, easy-peasy.)

Can you provide me with an example URL to test with? The 0's should be working the same as the N's do.

Sure thing :)
This is the one taken straight out of the generator:
