There's suddenly a costume slot on all of my pets and no explanation whatsoever. Did I miss something?

Oh so wait this is new? I spotted it on my pets, I thought it was an unlock for hitting like level 35 or something XD

To be honest, I thought I forgot to put the second accessories on my mission pets and then I realized it's a new slot. lol

I think there was no costume slot when I assigned my mission pets yesterday morning. Maybe you mean 11:30 PM?
