The world can be a very discouraging place sometimes. There are those who wish us harm, or want to see you fail. There is jealousy and spite. There is fear and prejudice. There are those who do not understand, but it is also a beautiful place There are those who not only wish us well, but are there to help us at every turn. There is love and compassion, courage and understanding. There is hope and happiness. There are those who though they do not agree with us still care and wish the best for us. Ironicly it is when these forces are held in balance that adventures and legends are born. So we make friends when we can and strive when we must. Some seeing only the darkness try to withdraw from everything around us. This is all to often a mistake, for while one can live alone, no one can thrive alone. At the end of the day we are all social creatures who need each other. Both needing others and needing to be needed. For the truth of the matter is no sentient race can truly survive trying to live forever a world apart.
A man walked through the falling rain tugging his hat lower over his head. Bright green eyes surveyed the streets he walked through. The thunder rumbled over head. Unconcerned the man walked on. Andy as he was known was heading home after a hard day with the construction crew. It had not started raining until closing time. Most were grateful the rain had held off until then. Andy slowed and turned at the door to his own humble apartment, a familiar flicker of feline movement in the window catching his eye. As he reached for the doorway he paused for a moment facing the breeze with his head at a curious tilt. A stronger gust blew chasing away the tantalizing feeling on the previous light zephyr. With a slight shake of his head Andy turned and entered his warm living space away from the restless storm, in which the winds of change were brewing.

The small dragon hisses as again a drop of rain managed to drip into his nose. Brisingr angrily claws at his face with a winged hand before he shook his head to rid himself of the water that found its way underneath his scales. He hated the rain, it had never really brought any good down here, other than to make everything a muddy mess. Again he growls this time over how life would be better if he had only learned to fly sooner so he would not have to walk through the mud. Tucking his wings in closer to his body he continues to run home to his nest in the cave wall. At least it would be dry there.
Dusty Star plows down the street the now forming mud making it harder to stop the heavy

The library - a welcoming shelter from the downpour outside. A bit chilly, however, but it would have to do. It was only unfortunate that the outpost lacked other means to pass the time in such a gloomy weather as this. But there was nothing to be done. The outpost was new, so naturally it lacked what the others had.
"Still unfortunate." The words left the Dark Elf's lips in barely a whisper, intended for no one else but her to hear - though it wasn't as if the darkened facility hosted any other souls whom would have such a privilege. She had made sure of that when she first entered. "Now where was I?" Aerwyun muttered as her gaze returned to her book, looking for where she had left off before she was distracted by the pitter-patter of the rainfall against the windows. The sounds tended to distract her whenever she was reading, though perhaps that was because of her favour for rain, and her habits of watching the 'Heavens' Tears'.
It didn't seem as if the dark weather would go away soon, and as much as she liked it, she didn't like to work in it. She could only hope that the forsaken sun would rise soon, if only so she may start her work again without fear of getting drenched.

Jelka ran threw the forest happily laughing as she danced in the ran. She loved how the wet earth felt between her branch like toes and how the water felt running down her face. She looked back at a tree where her friend was hiding. "Aw, come on Timur. It's just a little rain." She teased the metal owl laughing loudly as it shook it's head. "Chicken." She said before dancing around again.

Aiden Stormwind had not been home for some years. Queen Lareena still sent out patrols to locate her errant elf. Her two eldest sometimes went out, but mostly they stayed close to home. Ronal simply stated that the young elf had made his choices and must live with them. His younger brother Eldon was of the opinion that a certain red haired rascal would turn up again and that this was all just an extended prank he was playing. Still the underground network was closely knit it would be difficult to hide from her scouts. As angry as she was, a part of her still wished to see said elf safely back. Not, that it would lessen his punishment by any means.
Said red haired elf was many miles away shaking the water from his cap and hanging it by the heater to dry. "Home on time I see. Thought you would have found a girlfriend by now. I mean aren't human women attracted to your kind like flies." Aiden shook his head at the feral brownie sitting on the stair railing. "What part about laying low do you not understand. I'm starting to think you just like to annoy me Bowdrie." The cat like creature grinned at his friend. "Of course its the only way to get an honest answer out of you. You stubborn pointy ear." Aiden shook his head chuckling, "Look who's talking whiskers." He turned to look out of the window. "Its really coming down out there. I don't think we'll be bothered by random salesmen or street fights tonight."

Thyx'siira flew, leaping from tree to tree. She hated when she had to scout in the rain, the wetness seeped between her scales and made her wings heavy. Perching in one of the tall trees at the end of her route she noticed the human staring out the window and she could have sworn she'd seen him before. But where? She though on that for a moment, staring back at him before realizing that he could probably see her reflective orange eyes staring at him from the treetops. She darts away, back towards the underground.
Gah! Stupid rain! She thinks as she lands, sinking into a foot of mud. "Ugh!" She exclaims, lifting her wings of the ground and spinning around, disgusted. Only to accidentally smack another dragon, only slightly smaller than she is, straight across the snout with her long, almost prehensile tail. She turns to look at him, startled. "Sorry! I hate this stupid rain." She continues complaining in a lower voice, to no one in particular "It's all wet and the mud is stuck between my scales and my wings are wet." She keeps growling before looking back up at the dragon. "Uh, see you around." And she continues down the street, pulling her talons out of the sticky mud, casting a glance over her shoulder to look at the other dragon.

Aiden started for a moment looking harder into the rain. "Something wrong?" His cat like companion asked. The elf shook his head. "No, I thought I saw something, but it was probably just some forest animal. Sometimes I wonder why I picked an apartment so close to the woods." The brownie chuckled, "Because you're an elf. You cant completely give up what makes you the way you are. Besides we get more privacy out here." Aiden nodded in agreement smiling slightly.
Meanwhile in other parts of the city strange thefts were taking place, but that would not be discovered until morning.

Aerwyun was bored. She had finished the book a while back, and now found herself wandering the outpost, protected by only a thin raincoat and an umbrella. Of course, she had thought of bothering one of her comrades, but to her dismay, she found that all of them had taken advantage of the dark weather to catch some sleep. She would have followed suit, but she feared an attack whilst all were resting. At least if she was awake, she could aid in the waking of the sleepers.
So, that's how the dark elf - dressed in what could barely be considered proper rain attire - found herself sitting in the amphitheatre, at the mercy of the pouring rain which hit her like hailstones. "D*** it." She swore to herself that, once the rain ended, she'd leave for the nearby human city. It would be a nice change of pace from her daily routine, and she'd be able to get her supervisor of her back. The male was always dropping hints about her taking a couple days off after seeing her snap at one of the new recruits.
But.. in her defence, it was the recruit's fault. What person, human or not, would in their right mind ask her how to craft simple potions like Darquir? It was simple dark elf knowledge! She still seethed in anger whenever she remembered that incident.
"Aerwyun?"
"What, Darunel?" The male flinched at his leader's sharp tone, and he'd bet his life that it made her smirk.
"Erm... Some of the rest... woke up... we were wondering if you'd like to join us for erm... a few games..."
Well, it was definitely better than sitting out here in the rain. "Lead the way..."
