So saturday we got a puppy...Also on saturday we had a golden retriever visit the neighborhood. We gave him a rawhide and he happily took it and I thought he took it home. The dogs in the neighborhood have been barky lately but that isn't too much out of the normal. Tonight when we got home from guitar lessons he was at our gate. I invited him in and gave him another rawhide thinking he would take it home. Instead when I checked 10 minutes later he was still sitting at our gate. So I brought him in the yard. He's very overweight, matted, and attention starved. So far he's great with the rest of the pack. I think he's about 7 or 8 years old. We are getting the feeling that he was abandoned out here. Most of the loose dogs we see we know where they live. We sat on the patio with him for about an hour or so until he finally relaxed. He was nonstop panting and seemed anxious. Overall he's super very friendly. I'm not sure how this will all go but I'm going to start with grooming him. I hope that I'm able to brush him out but his legs and sides are so tight I may have to shave him. I'd feel bad shaving him in this weather because it's been pretty cold at night. Tomorrow I'm going to visit all the vets in town in case he just got very far from home. Anyhow I know I don't usually post a lot but I just had to vent this out. I feel bad for this sweet boy that decided to visit us.
