Are there more keyboard shortcuts in the battling platform?
I know there's the AQF1234567890BM | PI row, but is there a way to select the monster you want to attack other than clicking?
And one to select "End Turn"?

As far as I'm aware, no. There are no hotkeys for choosing an opponent or ending the turn. You'll just have to click those. =P

Oh,, also am wondering approximately how many eggs I'll have to nurture before I get an essence. Or is that completely random and luck-based?
And when will I be able to do tasks???

I'm not sure the number of eggs... it's a lot. Lol. It's random, but the frequency is set to really rare. I tLee ally dont know the rough number though.... =/
Tasks are basically quests but in the 3rd region. So you'll need to explore and follow the storyline until you unlock the 3rd region, Astryl's Vale.
