Hello! I'm going to be setting up an adoptable shop sometime in the future, but I wanted to test the waters a bit first. I don't have my computer right now so the line art is a placeholder to get the idea and colors down and as such is scratchy and the shading is crappy. As a result (and because y'all will be so nice as to help me out in testing these guys' genome) they will be free until the real shop is up and running.
The premise is: Something has happened and now there are a bunch of shiny Magikarp available! (I haven't exactly figured out the story yet x.x)
Basically, I like Magikarp, but in a less cartoony style, so I went on a drawing spree and now have a couple of very nice pencil sketches that I want to use to make Magikarp adoptables!
FAQ
Q: So, what do these Karp look like?
A: There are 10 colors that are used for both the base and secondary regions on the karp; kind of like sylesti have a color 1 and color 2. The colors are red, blue, green, yellow, cyan, orange, purple, light grey, dark grey, and tan. Each of those colors has 5 shades so a very light light grey Karp is actually white, and a very dark dark grey Karp is actually black.
Q: Wait, genome?
A: Well, you see, each and every Karp has a full blown genome that dictates its colors and any special markings it may have. These colors, shades, and markings will get passed on to offspring.
Q: So they can breed?
A: Yes! In fact that's the whole reason I'm doing this; I want to give the genome a workout before opening the shop. I might have to make a few tweaks if, we are consistently getting ugly color combinations out of them.
Q: Will I get to keep my Karp once the shop opens?
A: That depends. Any 1st gen. Karp given out will be recolored onto the new line art and brought over to the new shop. However any 2nd gen or higher Karp will be removed.
Q: Can I keep my Karp in the current line art instead?
A: I mean, sure, if you really want to, but it's grooooooos! XD
Q: I want to help test the Genome! What can I do?
A: Get yourself a Karp! Every once in a while I will be giving away a few Gen 1 Karps. I'll also be giving away Gen 2 + Karps. Once you have an adult Karp, breed it! Pick another and, with that user's permission, request a breeding when the slots are open.
