I was wondering if we could get the option to perform genetic tests on pets we don't own? People ALREADY DO THIS by pricing their pets at 1g for friends to buy and test then resell, so all a feature like this would be doing is remove a bit of the hassle associated with it. Obviously it would still be up to players to find people to test their pets for them, just like normal.

For people who argue this would prevent people from buying the diamond testers... Let me restate the fact people already do this. If the fact you can ALREADY get all of your pets tested FOR FREE without any difficulty whatsoever isn't already enough of a reason not to buy the diamond testers, this isn't going to change a darn thing. If having to pay diamonds to get pets tested were such a critical thing, we wouldn't have the one-use testers, and asking people to test pets for us would be against the rules.

Further suggestion details:

-Make it an option that has to be enabled on an individual pet basis.
-Maybe limit the ability to people on your friends list?
-Add a sort of "CoD" function so people who charge a fee for testing are able to do so more easily.
-Limit this function to the Greater testers only.

I test pets en masse for people on a daily basis. All they have to do is ask me. It is neither difficult nor time-consuming. Why not make it a more open feature, like the ability we have to feed other people's pets?

I'd actually love a feature like this, I don't know how it'll work, but I'd love it~ :3
I'm often testing for my friends freely, but it could help those who charge for
testing, because it could ensure the player that their pets isn't going to be
maybe stolen~ XP

The Genetic Test Kit was intended to be used only on the owner's pets. Players were the one to 'invent' the notion of swapping pets to test.

Since that isn't necessarily an intended use of the diamond bought GTK, we won't be making it a streamlined feature.

I think this also falls under the "be careful what you wish for" category. Way back in the day of MMO gaming, players had to dig and claw to find groups to play with and progress their character. This involved actively communicating with other people, being good at your role, and not being an asshat.

Then one day, WoW created the Looking For Dungeon system. Now a days, nobody could give a crap about any of the above and they mindlessly complete content and play MMOs. The communities are all but dead because of this mindset.

I feel this is similar to what the GTK services offer. Currently, it requires people to communicate with each other, be courteous, etc. It's a positive for the community. Adding in a feature to make the process autonomous would ruin the community benefit it's currently providing - in addition to what I said first.

@Krinadon,
Then could there be a way to price pets in masses? [i.e. have a special interface, like 'quick pricing?']
Pricing each one individually can be tiring.

Also, would it be possible to move pets in masses as well throughout the stables. Clicking and moving each one individually can be tiring. Note: I move my pets to arrange them by how many GP they have. If there could be an autosort, that would be just as useful.

I have to agree with Krin's reasoning here. Right now while people are doing it for free, it's the extra steps of passing the pets back and forth, as well as having to trust the person to send the pet back. While ideally people would be polite and friendly no matter what, that's never going to be the case. Making it to where all you had to do was go to someone's page and hit "test" if they requested it would result in people just popping into chat and saying "someone test my pets plz" and expecting to get results. On top of that, I know there are some people who don't appreciate the fact that people with genetic testing kits spent $15 of their own money on those items, and would think people who had them had an obligation to test other peoples pets.

Sylestia has a really great community. It's full of friendly people who seem to always be willing to go out of their way to help each other out. The fact that free genetic testing happens in the first place is a shining example of that. I think it's best if it's left to being a result of the strong community we have, rather than a bit of coding.

@Taptothebeat,

Both of those features would be time consuming to develop. While not bad ideas, I just don't know when I would be able to take a look into developing them as I wouldn't deem them very critical at this point in time.

But I'll keep them in mind.

@Krinadon,

Thank you for taking the time to give me such a detailed response. XD I really appreciate it. I understand your logic, though I could argue against the community aspect (I don't see how sales threads are community-building??) but I'll just keep plugging along as usual then, it's not a huge disappointment. :v
