I was wondering if u can get essence in any way other than buying it...

You can generally find essences in the trade broker, though at the moment the cheepest seems to be around 25,000G. ^.^

You can also randomly get them as you play around the site, such as from the mission satchels or while nursing eggs and hatchlings.
