Hi! Newbie here. I have what is probably considered a really silly question but it is confusing me greatly and I may as well go ahead and ask.

There is apparently such a thing as regeneratable and non-regeneratable pets (give or take correct spelling of the word) with different point values. Can somebody please tell me what they are, what you can use the points for, how to tell the difference between the two, how to tell the number of points each pet has, and any other information that might be necessary or important to know? Because I have no idea.

Thank you!

Hello! I'll gladly explain. Regeneratable pets can only be found in two species currently, the Sylvorpa and the Zolnixi. In the past year, some of the pet species have been receiving updated art, and unfortunately that meant the appearance changed, and with it many of the genes and mutations were changed as well. They would move slots, the colors would sometimes be switched around, and it generally became impossible for Krin and Fai to go through every pet that existed and fix every issue. They tried with the Vulnyx when it was redrawn, but thanks to the shuffle around of traits, many people ended up unhappy due to the traits on their Vuls being changed and it altering the appearance so much.

To make sure it didn't happen again, when the Vorpas received their redraw, every Vorpa on the site became regeneratable, and some of them still are. This meant that the pets GP, genotype points, were noted and all their traits removed. The owner of the pet could then press the regenerate button on a pet's profile and re-allocate their traits. The number of traits they could pick depended on the number of gp they had had before. The owners were also able to pick any traits, even if the Vorpa had been created before a certain trait was released. Now, however, the traits that have come out since then are still unavailable and can not be given to a pet through regeneration.

The same thing happened with the Nixis when they were redrawn, though this time only Nixis with specific traits became regeneratable. The idea is the same; the owner has the same number of gp the Nixi had previously to give to the pet and the ability to select any trait that was available before the redraw.

Unfortunately, there is no way for anyone but the owner to see how much gp a pet has, since it's only displayed in the regenerating area.

You can tell when a pet is regeneratable by going to its profile and seeing if it has a little green button below its picture. If it does, the owner can click it and regenerate the pet's traits. If not, there will be no button.

Currently, we don't know how long the regeneratable feature will be available or if it will be a permanent feature that can be used any time as long as the pet exists, though (if I remember correctly) Krin did say after the Vorpa redraw he would eventually set a deadline for when they all had to be done, and if they weren't, would remain without any traits.
