Okay, I'm still working on the story but I was thinking a sort of high bred of HTTYD and the Inheritance cycle. Maybe even a school thing? (Give me feed back Soltra. ^^) I'll make it more official ish as I get a better feel for the story.

Hybrid eh... hmmmm yeah the school thing sounds interesting, and I have a few thoughts about the way the school could be run, but that aside, hybrid.... so HTTYD and Inheritance - magic and dragon riders basically, where the dragons act like HTTYD, but are bonded to riders like Inheritance and magic is there?

Kind of and were instead of just being different colors with slightly different spikes have different species of dragons. I mean the basic history is the same for both. Dragons need to eat and take from humans (or just take humans XD) and humans/elves kill dragons till they come to an understanding. Maybe we could even have dwarf/urgal riders... I think that'd be pretty cool...

you mean like different races/tribes evolving with differents dragons in parallel ? like differences in environment would lead to different races of dragons, and be met with different riders (elvish, dwarvish, orcish, demonish and so on)? that would be quite awesome. Maybe different "jobs" with dragons too ? like breeder, trainer, that could be the focus on the school no ? (just throwing ideas around, you don't have to listen to it all ^^ it's yours after all ^^)

Ah that works, and perhaps instead we could use like a two factions story? Where one group believes dragons will destroy the world - they're trained to kill dragons. Or they could just believe dragons are used as their riders are useless, in their opinion, so this faction hates suing dragons since they think it's a weakness.

The other faction could just be dragon lovers, or see dragons as the way to change the world - we have our two opposing factions, leading to some plausible fighting which might help advance plot? And yes, the dwarf/urgal riders is interesting, and since this is a fantasy world (of our own making or of completely based off HTTYD and Eragon? If it's our own let's add more races...?) it's possible. Perhaps take Ava's suggestion into consideration.
