Zigzag looks over the dried land, letting the hot breeze blow his mane. The white mare's word play over and over in the young stallion's mind, the message ever so clear. She had told all the foals that night of the task they all had a part in seeing through, and all of them knew then of their roles. But with the death of the white mare, and his own mother even Zigzag had no motivation towards the goal now. He did not know if the others thought the same or even if they recalled the mare, but if anything was to be done it would need to be done soon or all of their fates would be sealed.

Wolfsbane sighed, lifting his head to the warm, dry breeze. He closed his eyes and tried to savor the motion of wind through his mane and tail, but he longed for the cool, high winds. He couldn't remember when he last smelled rain on the stormclouds, or felt the crumbly earth beneath him moisten. All he felt during the day was the sun's hot, piercing rays against his pitch-black skin, and even the night was dry and arid. He couldn't help but think of the stark white mare's words. He knew he had to take a chance, to rise up with the other juveniles, but no one could challenge the Dark Stallion's power. He knew that the others would probably be too weak to even try now, and it would only get worse, which meant they couldn't bide their time.. not any longer.

Arthur cared little for leading the herd himself. He wanted a righteous leader though. One who would look after the herd with a strong but gentle hoof. He could think of no one besides himself for such a role.

He would bide his time though. Watch the competition and learn of them. He would play this right or suffer the consequences. The white horses words echoed in his head. He would do what was needed no more no less.

He trotted forward away from the herd lowering his head to the ground. He smelled the dry earth the dust tickling his nose. He then raised his head to the air smelling the others and their fear....even excitement at what was to come.

Bones was laying in the dirt at the bottom of the herds rock, the only source of shade for over a hundred miles. His black color made it hard to stay in the sun for very long, yet he tested himself each day to see if he could stay out any longer. His fiery red mane fell over his eyes again as he sits up, the thought of the white mare ever on his mind. She had even pulled him away while the others were gone, she spoke to him of fighting for the role of leader, that if anyone was going to lead it should be him. Bones stands, somewhat nervous about these words, but then he had shown as a leader for the foals in that first year of life. He shakes off the dirt, making his skeletal markings appear white once more. He knew his brother was thinking the same, that it was time to make their move.

Wolfsbane glanced towards the other juveniles scattered around. Bones, lying in the shade of the Herd's Rock, and Zigzag, probably contemplating the words of the white mare. He could already see a few other individuals separating themselves from the herd - a black Friesian juvenile he knew as Arthur, a couple of mares detaching themselves for better grazing around the edges of the group, and a young blood-bay Arabian mare with brindle markings - Janglars.

Janglars trotted out of the herd, holding her head high. She flicked her tail, and glanced around haughtily. It seemed as if all the other juveniles were slowly separating themselves from the herd and fanning out to graze, or seek shade. Which is perfect, she thought. We will simply need to regroup, and the cluster will probably form nearby Herd's Rock. Then we can begin. When she was alone, she chanced a quiet laugh. Under a leader... like me.

Harvestmoon bounced from the midst of the herd, first only frolicking around the edges, until she eventually ended by tumbling on her back into a clump of crumbled, dry dirt. She spat out what amounts had gotten into the mouth and sprang to her feet almost immediately. Prancing over to the Herd's Rock, she began to dance in circles around Bones. "Hey Bones, whassup?" she whinnied.

Bones smiles at the horses foal like play. "Hello Harvestmoon, I was simply seeking shade here at the rock." He flicks his tail at the biteing flies witch semmed to only want him. "And what are you doing on this hot and horrible day?" He asks before thinking of the words he was using.

The Dark Stallion watches each of the juveniles, hoping they would all find their way away from his heard. His dark mane blows in the hot dry wind making him seem all the more menacing. His eyes land on Bones the one that would be his doom, the one he had ment to kill long ago. If this stallion brought the herd back together then The Dark Stallions rein would be over, and this thought the leader of the herd would never happen.

Harvestmoon stopped prancing around immediately. "I.. I'm not really doing much, I guess." She finally stood still for a couple of minutes. "What grass is left is too dry, and.. well, I'm thirsty. All the time. My throat is really dry." She sighed. Her ears suddenly pricked forward, and she glanced hastily at the head of the herd. "Is.. he - t-the Dark Stallion, I mean.. staring at us? At you?" She shifted from one foot to the other uneasily. "Why is he staring at you like that?" Her voice seemed to lower to a whimper, and her head began to lower. Her eyes took on a duller gleam. The Dark Stallion was someone to be feared, everyone in the herd knew that. Harvestmoon had been skittish and flighty all of her life, but the Dark Stallion scared her the most.

Willow trotted around the heard, stopping when she got to another juvenile named Cinder. She whinnies a hello before looking around at the others finding all the juveniles in sight. She didn't know if she could even do anything to help with the white mares plan.

Cinder whinnies hello back as he watches the herd, there wasn't much grass left or water. If they didn't find a better place to live the herd would die.

Raven watches the Dark Stallion, she didn't understand how the herd was so afraid of him. She angrily stomps her foot as she felt the steaming hot sun burning against her pitch black skin. The dry wind blew through her black mane as she stared at the Dark Stallion, glancing to the juvenile named Bones.

Bones say THe Dark Stallion looking at him, thus he let his blood red eyes bore into the horses dark eyes. "He knows that I'm to lead to his down fall, he wants me dead. That's way we stay here in this dry, hot land so that we will slowly die off. The time to act is now, we must work together though. Harvestmoon will you go tell the others? We must meet below the great dry oak to night at high moon to decuse the plan."

The Dark Stallion knew that of which they spoke. He rares up, screaming into the wind, hopefully sending chills up the young horses spines. He would not fall the likes of them, not now not ever.

Domino squeaked(Well, If horses can squeak. Some kind of surprised sound.), stumbling in her run. She was kind of close to Bones and Harvestmoon and The Dark Stalion. She looked over, and squeaked again. She was so tiny compared to everyone else, and was kind of scared of them. Domino wasn't sure what to do.
