I would like to know how to get , which I think are called scales. (Correct me if I'm wrong, please!)

You can find Scales by nurturing pets.
You can nurture pets by going to your Hatchery page and then clicking the button "Help Nurture Sylesties".
When nurturing, you'll have to choose the action to best counter the pet's condition. So for example, if it's cold, you would select to warm it up. If you successfully nurture a pet, you receive 1 Scale.
