Hard to make this one blue, but have a tinge of red, without any other colors. I think I pulled it off though.

I've decided that weekends are going to be challenge days with either special criteria, broader subjects or really complex pictures. However, while the themes may be more difficult you will get more points for you design if you win.

Today's challenge theme is Mythological Creatures.

You must find a Mythological Creature/Folk Tale Creature/Crypid picture and include it in your post or your entry will be disqualified. (Unless I absolutely love it :D)

First I wanted to do the Cerberus, but had no idea how to pull off a three headed fire dog without three heads. Then I wanted to do a Harpy, but that'd be quite hard too. I settled on a Leviathan *Not the ones from Supernatural, I still don't know who thought those were a good idea.*

So, here's a few bits about this creature. Leviathans are said to be fire-breathing serpents, and of such immense size that the water boils if it swims close to the surface. It is said to be the ruler of the oceans. It's scale reflect light to give it a shiny appearance, and it's eyes are described to be like a dawn.
Now, onto my design.

I didn't do this creature justice ;_; Oh well, still an awesome myth.
I wanted to use the Aeridini, but there were too many tentacles, and not enough fins. :/

It was a bit more challenging this time. x_x
I hope I won't be disqualified because I made two designs. I have a good reason. :P





I decided to make Teumessian and Laelaps.
I know they are two but they just can't be separated.
Teumessian is a gigantic dark fox that can't be caught. Laelaps is a magical dog that catch everything it chases.
Due to the contradiction of their lives, they were changed into stones by Zeus.
They're now known as two stars, Canis Major and Canis Minor.

In Norse mythology, Huginn (from Old Norse "thought") and Muninn (Old Norse "memory"/"mind") are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world as Odins messengers and observers. In the evening they return with the collected information to the god Odin.

Winged Lion of Saint Mark

I had to go with a Phoenix. The concept of new life rising from the all-consuming fire is a message that's always stuck with me. Through the hardest struggles of life, I always come back even stronger than before. Just as the phoenix returns from the ashes. Burn me, that's fine; I'll come back as version 2.0 - wiser, stronger, and probably with a vengeance.
