There is something that I'm quite curious about. Lately when people buy my pets, I look at their page and it says that they released them. Is this a thing? I'm starting to get a bit sad about it. Are they buying specifically to release them because I'm not on that often currently and they feel that they have to rescue them? Or is it an amazing coincidence? It can't be because they thought the pet had carried/hidden genes since pretty much all of my pets are tested.

It's because of the leader boards for the current festival. This isn't something that happens all the time, but at the moment people are trying to stay ahead to get 2-3 visible pets and are buying and releasing to keep their spots.

Thanks for letting me know. I don't like it that that is the reason. It's not remotely nice to the pets.
Edit: On thinking about it, they could be happy in the wild. I just think of them waiting for a home and then they finally get a home only for their new owner to release them. :(

Ah yes, I think almost everyone is being touched in this. There is a reason to it, as said above, but all in all, pets are pets, virtual pets are virtual pets. Nobody's getting hurt and nothing is being neglected. :) And the simplest thing to do is dont set your pets up for sale, because once another has them they can just as easily be released as they were bred. :p okay im done.

I know that they are just data (although I have an unfortunate condition that makes them bond with objects). I have a tendency to think that I did something wrong. Paranoia is fun. I was mainly just curious about what was causing the phenomena. I'm glad that it's just a competition and that there is a campaign targeting me because I'm terrible to my pets. I don't care that much about the pets that I have on sell, so I hope that they can go to someone that will like them. Maybe even be a teammate.
