I wasn't coming onto Sylestia very frequently for a week or two and when I came back, I had these egglings in a trade?
I didn't see any notifications in my social or overview and I don't know what they are? It says they aren't usable anymore, anyway, but I'm still confused. Where did they come from and why?

To answer your questions, they're past currency from the last 2 spring festivals. Since the old currencies in the system (used, but unspent tokens) aren't recycled, they're just given back as expired tokens. Their only use is to either collect or sell for gold.
