I really need a new anime to watch, ugh. prefer a male lead, I like adventure, action, mystery type. Maybe something Fairy Tail or D. Gray Man like. I like the troubled main character with a sad/dark past (D. gray man, Seikon no Qwaser (normally not something I'd watch, but I like Sasha's past and how they come about showing it. Flash here, Flash there, keeps you interested). Guilty pleasure: little pain here, little pain there (physical and mental), tears are cool, I like a guy who can cry. Ha ha, I'm gonna stop now before I embarrass myself any more. Suggestions?

Try Future Diary, Clannad, Angel Beats, or Hygurashi X3 Hygurashi and Future Diary are more gory and for mature audiences, the plot is amazing. And the characters...Im gonna be honest, I cry as well as cheer in my bedroom X3

First that came to mind are Black Cat, Jyu Oh Sei, and Darker Than Black. If you stick with it long enough, you should like Hunter x Hunter. There are two characters who work a bit like that.

Black Cat - Assassin who tries to leave his organization.
Hunter x Hunter - A wonderful anime. There are 4 main male characters. Each has a deep rooted past that gets explored. (Well-- perhaps not so much the main-main character)
Jyu Oh Sei - A lot better than it first looks. There is a twist that comes into play that I think you would enjoy.
Darker Than Black - I watched this so long ago I can't remember. But the main character is pretty cool.

FMA Brotherhood was actually the first anime I ever finished, and paved the road to my addiction, ha ha. I've watch AOT, and started the first episode of Guilty Crown about two months ago. I'll def look into the other two, thanks :)

Maybe one of these would suit you?

Black Butler (this sounds like exactly what you want)
Sword Art Online
