Hi all!
As you know I work in animal rescue. I have started an organization called: Friends for Life Rescue Network
We will soon become a non-profit but not yet.
The Story of Bruce:
Bruce was born to a stray mama cat with a few other siblings. Unfortunately, he developed a terrible upper respiratory infection blocking his nose and eyes. It made him unable to eat. He became malnourished, infested with fleas, and dehydrated. His mama felt that he was too sick to survive and to protect the rest of her litter...she started pushing him away. He became hypothermic.
A lady had been monitoring the litter and saw that he was being rejected by his mother. She contacted a friend who works in rescue. That friend contacted me. At the time, neither one of us knew that he was so sick. He was transported to me and when I saw him...I realized he was dying. I told the woman that I would do my best but that his prognosis was incredibly poor.
He stopped breathing. I kept rubbing him until he would breath again. After about 30 minutes of constantly trying to keep him alive, I decided to rush him to the hospital. I knew that a 24/7 facility would be crazy expensive and the likelihood of him surviving was practically none but I didnt want to give up on him.
Heres his pictures before I took him to the hospital:
This was thursday night. The hospital took him in immediately and began work. I waited overnight until the next morning. He was still alive! They found that he had been flea infested and anemic. They gave him a capstar pill that would kill the adult fleas but not the eggs. He was too small for revolution. They fed him, gave him fluids, and cleaned out his eyes and nose. I was sent home with eye ointment and a dietary supplement.
I contacted his foster that I had already lined up because I had work that morning (Friday) and needed to get him over there. Drove there at 6am and dropped him off. By the end of the work day...still alive.
By the end of the night...showing interest in food.
By Saturday, I came to take him to my vet. They showed me how to administer subcutaneous fluids and sent me home with oral antibiotics. We also kept him warm with a snuggle safe, and latex gloves filled with warm water.
He bit me on Saturday. GREAT sign that he had the strength to do it. AND his eyes opened!
Saturday night I heard he loves his food, he's taking all his meds, and started meowing. He loves head rubs and pushes against his fosters hand with the little strength he has.
By Sunday...he started wobbling on his own! We gave him a bath to get rid of the flea eggs and administer fluids.
He keeps improving <3
Heres his newest photos:
IF YOU WANT TO BE PINGED FOR UPDATES, let me know.
That is so...AWESOME! I am pleased to see the little gut is doing well.
In one photo where he is in a towel after a bath I could swear he was giving us the ol' "stink eye" for bathing him. Maybe he liked it...maybe...
Anyways you have a big heart and so do the people who did all that work. It goes to show that you don't give up just because you think it is hopeless.
Stuff like this makes me feel a bit better about the human race. :)

@Juri- Awwwwww love the little Bruce sylesti!
Bruce is doing MUCH better. He started walking!!! Check it out:
Bruce Walking
He had to get an enema yesterday but he did fine with it. He's super perked up but uses his energy quickly. He LOVES his food. Its a combo of KMR mixed with human baby food (plain turkey).
:D
@Siennathecat Absolutely! I will add you to the ping list

Oh man that was funny. You (I assume it was you) moved the toy and he looks at the toy then at you so cluelessly like "Why did you do that?".
I am gladdened to see Bruce is getting better. Ever notice how cats seem to gravitate towards laptop computers?

May I be pinged for updates? And also, I loved your story and that the kitten survived. It's very kind of you to save a kitten who might not have survived if no on helped him.
This story made tears in my eyes. Long live Bruce!
