I recently returned to the game, and noticed that you can now track inbreeding %. What are people's view on inbred pets? Do people tend to avoid it completely, accept a certain % (e.g., below x% is accepted), or do not care about inbreeding at all? Do you avoid inbreeding in your breeding projects (design and stat projects)? Do you have difficulty selling inbred pets?

I know that different people will have different views. I just want to get a general sense of where the community leans towards with regards to inbreeding.

I myself honestly don't care but others may, I hadn't even noticed the "imbreeding" part yet!

The general feeling seems to be that no one cares...

What's said above me. ^^;

imo, it's because of 2 things:

1. everyone is used to the system before (where we didn't see inbreeding %s), so inbreeding isn't really a big deal -- most players who purebreed probably breed within the same lines for convenience

2. inbreeding %s do not affect the pet's ability to breed/battle/etc; there's no resulting impairments. ^^

Otherwise, yeah, general peeps (or I can speak for myself) minds it or thinks much of it when buying pets. They're not really avoided, but if it happens, it happens. I don't see any difficulty in selling em.

In actual pet breeding, line breeding is actually very common as it is an easy way to get recessive traits to show. This is usually done breeding males back to their mothers because of sex linked traits.

Actually this reminds me of a question that's been floating around in my head lately. IS there are % at which the pets become unbreedable? Or maybe it will be a thing in the future? Before they added the lineage and when I was still newer, I constantly was driven nuts by my limit gene pool with my pets. Now that I know more I take steps to avoid running into that.

As to your question... unless the pet is somehow related to my own lines, it doesn't really matter to me. If they implement some sort of limit (which would be interesting) of how inbred a pet can be before becoming infertile, then I could see that being a problem. The person would likely have to breed to some clean generations to lower the number before being able to inbred safely again.

lol excuse my ramblings

I don't mind them, they're bound to be high on projects and super high on stat projects, so it's just something that's interesting to look at occasionally

I don't think the % number affects breedability, no matter how high. ;w;
(I had a project with somewhat narrow breeding, got to like 40% inbred and it can still breed, so long as it wasn't with sibling or parent)

mhm, that's what I figured. But I'm still curious as to whether it might be implemented later on to provide more of a challenge to breeding.

I think they are fine, and I have noticed pretty much no difficulty selling them! :D
