So about a year ago, I bought my sister a new drawing tablet for her birthday (basically gave her the money to get the one she wanted. I think she got the Intuos Pro, but not sure XD). She already had a tablet, but wanted a newer, nicer, and bigger one. Since she got the new one, she gave me her old one, which worked perfectly for me. It is a Wacom bamboo Fun CTE450s. For someone like me, who uses it mostly just to do little drawings here and there and is still new to drawing tablets, its great.
Problem is: its a really, really old model.(I think she got it in like...2011? or something like that...Might've been 2012. No idea, tbh.) It till works great and all, but...I managed to lose the pen. To the point of I don't think i will ever find the darn thing, and it very possibly got stepped on, broken, and tossed without a word to me (as my parents wouldn't have known what it was if this were the case)
When I went to see if maybe I could just get a new pen for it online, I found out that they pretty much don't make this model anymore, and the pens that are compatible with it are pretty hard to come by. not to mention, most of the pens alone cost $30+. At this point, I'd be better off investing in a newer tablet, as the price wouldn't be that much more, and I could get a newer one that if this were to happen again, it'd be much easier to find a replacement pen for it.
I just...have no idea what to get. I really like the Wacoms, and I don't want anything super expensive. (I'm still a beginner with them, and cant spend too much since I'm going to college in fall and need to save my money for that...I also don't use it enough to actually need a really high-end expensive one. Which is part of the reason i like wacom...their cheap tablets work great.) So I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on what to get?
In terms of budget, I was really hoping to stay well below $150, preferably below $100 if that isn't dreaming too much XD
I've been looking around, and so far the ones that caught my eye are the Bamboo Capture and the Intuos (the smallest, cheapest one). Both I could get refurbished through Wacom on Amazon, at $50-60. (or the intuos brand new for $80, which is kinda pushing my budget tad since i could get the same thing refurbished for cheaper) I was just wondering what advice the art side of sylestia would have. (since a lot fo people on here are very talented.) Any advice would be great!
(i am willing to look at things other than Wacom, its jsut that those are the ones I know well which is why I'm leaning towards them. If other people recomend other brands, than i'd definitely be willign to give them a try if they fit my budget =3 )
(I'm in a tiny bit of a hurry, because I'm hoping/dreaming of getting a new one before hte spring fest design contests end...becase that is /totally/ gonna happen, right? XD) |
Since tablets tend to have one of the most losable pieces of hardware known to humans (those goshdern pens) I would buy the cheapest model. :)
For the most part, unless you're going to spring 1.5-2k for one with a screen, most tablets are not that different if you're a casual (not drawing for a job) artist. I personally have the Wacom Bamboo cth670 and in my opinion it works pretty much the same as the high and low end version of the Intuos. And it cost $250 bucks new. :I
Wait, my tablet is, like, $10-$50 bucks now on some not amazon sites, and $93 refurbished on amazon, I suggest that model. :)
