Hiya guys! I've noticed in the past few days that you can't actually use a comma in a pets name. It gives an error when you try to do so. This has been driving me bananas since I found this out, and I think it would be fair to allow comma's to be used since doing so would allow for more opportunities to give your pet a unique name.
Now, I know that three of the four unique pets that were rewarded in the last two eggling auctions have comma's in their names and I also know that they were all specifically admin-created. I don't think a comma is a good indication of exclusivity, I think that's what the 'This is an Exclusive Sylesti' tag is for. Also, we can use apostrophe's in pet names.
Hopefully I got all that out in a coherent manner xD

I always thought commas were special because only the admins could put the commas in the pet names themselves, so special pets would get a specialized name.
Often, the names that get commas are some snazzy thing like Bob, Blank of the Blank, or Sally, Sissy of Sisterness, or something. Which are particularly special. I thought it was exclusive on purpose aha.
I honestly thought that the admins meant to include apostrophes in the "exclusive" bracket too. But apparently not. And I've seen some interesting names, both used as accents to a name or conjunctions to words aha. B'ob of Bobbington, Bob's Guard of Bobtown, Bobby's Best Friend Bob'ette, etc, ad infinum aha
In all, I think the commas are special, and maybe a bit pompous to put them on a different level because of their exclusivity. But I like that only a few pets, ones achieved by special means, can have an actually snazzy title (which usually is separated by a comma) that can't be gotten otherwise. Many names don't necessarily need a comma nor an apostrophe (nor need to be long or composed of several words and spaces) to be a good name anyways. c:
But that's just me and my 2 cents, I never really thought there was anything wrong. I always was under the assumption that most names are alphanumeric and anything else would be superfluous or over the top aha.

Well, it's just a thought really. I can totally see where it can be considered special, but I just wanted to point out limiting it was. Infact, there is a specific user-created pet naming contest going on right now where a few of the people entering the contest have suggested names that include comma's. If the person running the contest were to pick one of their entries, they wouldn't be able to use it. It just concerned me a little as I'm a bit of a softy xD
The exclusivity of the comma is also unwritten, though I don't know where you would write it, and a person doesn't really know you can't use a comma right off the top of their head, especially when you can use an apostrophe. It just seems like it should be allowed for creativity's sake.
That being said, I just thought it was worth bringing up :)

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I really would love commas. I, too, have noticed their inability to be used and the exclusivity of the super special admin created pets. In a way, I like how special it makes those pets; makes me want to really save up some crazy amount of money to get a super special pet.
But.. I really like having meaningful pet names that get self-appointed titles and all that. My names tend to become a strange fragmented sentence. Example is my handsome 3 vis Red Curse ryori, which I wanted: "Crackle, the Fire of Fall" but instead has become the odd verbiage of "Crackle the Fire of Fall"
I know it seems so insignificant but it does bother me. So now I try to use "of the" titled names which still should have a comma but read less awkwardly in my opinion. All in all, I'd like the to have commas.
