There are no dreams here

Do you hear it when they disappear?
Tears of children, all alone
Crumpled pages all torn out,
Broken spines, strewn about
Where has gone the faithful route
There are no stories here

Do you see it when they disappear?
The sight of dusk, soft nightfall fades
Stars winking out far off in the sky
They haven't come back, we don't know why
Where has gone our wish to fly
There are no smiles here

Do you know it when they disappear?
Tall, dark ones roam about
They have no mouths with which to bite
They have no eyes, but still see and fight
Where has gone dear morning's light
There are no guardians here

Do you cry when they disappear?
Harsh sunlight knows when best to strike
The bells are tolling
Our hearts are knolling
Gravestones are rolling
Our sorrow knows no bounds here.
