I based my Griffi on a phenomenon of "thunder snow" that is, a thunderstorm with snow.
Here's a picture of it.
And here's my Griffi design. :)

My Griffi is based on the fire of the stove in my grandmother's house. Before she passed away I used to spend at least part of the holidays with her and we would roast chestnuts and make hot chocolate or simply sit in front of it talking because the kitchen was the warmest place.
The stove looked a bit like this one, only larger:

My griffi was inspired by pine trees, because pine trees make me think of winter. I will always remember this one little foot tall baby pine tree that was growing outside of a hotel window my family was staying at during a winter trip. It got completely buried in a large snowstorm one night.
