Downtime Begins: 11/13 @ 11 AM
Downtime Length: 1-3 Hours (Could be More)
We will be migrating Sylestia to an upgraded server most likely tomorrow morning/afternoon. I can't quite give the exact time since it depends on what's going on host-side. But if everything goes as planned tonight, we'll begin the migration part tomorrow.
During the migration, Sylestia will be down. This is obviously because we can't really move data from one server to another if that data is changing. It would be counter productive and of course cause data inconsistencies.
The estimated downtime will probably be between 1-3 hours. But it very well could be extended if things don't go according to plan. This process not only includes transferring all of the data on our server to the new one, but also making sure all of the server settings match and, finally, making sure the new server works properly.
Prior to the downtime, I'll post with as much notice as possible the exact time.
We thank you for your patience while we adjust to Sylestia's growth!

Good luck with the transfers and server update! One question though, is the new server going to act and look the same as the current one? I'm sorry, I'm new to this whole server thing.

Good thing I have classes all day tomorrow, otherwise the downtime would be painful. XD Good luck, you two! :)

Good luck with the server migration! Hopefully it all goes smooth as possible. :)
@Bloodmoon....basically, you can look at it as just moving all the info stored on one computer and moving it over to a bigger and faster one. The site and everything about it will look the same and act the same, with the exception of lag issues and such. A server is basically a huge information keeper that compiles all of the incoming data from us players thats entered into Sylestia and then distributes it back out to all of us players

As Hibernus said, nothing will change on your end. =)
We're upgrading some hardware and it was easier for our Host to deploy a second server and migrate rather than take our current one apart and replace.
The end result will be a faster, more powerful server (computer) capable of processing everything faster and more efficiently than our current one. In other words, faster loading speeds and less lag spikes.
