So, this is a tough one to explain.


I had a recent trade deal with someone, and rather than her return message I got a completely random one.

Different subject title, totally unrelated message body, it was a completely different conversation entirely! And since it left the both of us very confused and the tone of the message wasn't at all like the earlier ones, I'm quite certain it wasn't her who typed it. ^^;



Her thoughts on the matter were that it may be caused by something similar to when two eggs are made at the same time, and the traits and colors get swapped between the owners.

Though, I do think this is a slightly more alarming error, since private messages are... well, meant to be private. There's no notifications as to who actually wrote the other message (it was about someone else's trade deal, so nothing bad) but if the wrong message were to somehow land in the someone else's inbox, it has the potential to be problematic. There's a lot of information people share with friends that they'd much rather not share with a complete stranger by some weird fluke.

I was the one corresponding with Xav, for reference, if you need it! And yeah, super confusing... If I look in my outbox, it shows that I sent the message Xav got that I most definitely did not send and the one I did send is not there, so presumably it's in the outbox of the person who sent the PM in my outbox. So it's a total switch, not just the messages somehow landing at the wrong destination.

is this...basically you send a note to someone the same time someone else did and you got theirs?

Essentially, yes.


Selestial and I were trading pets, while the message I received, marked to be sent as a reply from her as "Re: items" was talking about trading items.


She never made the message, yet it shows up in my inbox, and in her outbox as if she had sent it.


As for the message she did send me, it has probably taken the place of the other message that was never intended for either of us.


That's mostly a theory though, based on a similar incident with bred pets. For now it's the best explanation for it we can think of unless Krin was messing with the PM system at the time or something. :3

Yep. Two messages were created at the same time.

I switched the two messages so they should be correct now (forwarded messages won't change b/c they are their own message).

As for fixing the bug, I'm going to wait until Tuesday to fix it and other similar bugs. I've thought of a solution that will fix these issues, but I can't implement them with the Site live. I already have planned downtime for Tuesday to upgrade our database software, so I'll tack this on to that process.
