It can take up to ten minutes for the wardrobe to load. Can we get you to put the full list of available items somewhere other than the wardrobe as maybe a reference list or in a NPC shop and just put the things we actually own in the wardrobe itself?

It takes so blasted long to fully load the wardrobe I think I've bothered with it a grand total for four times max, that I actually stayed in long enough to use it...and even then it can take an hour or more to change clothes...that's ridiculous, really. Dial up runs faster than that.

Hm... Well, I think your speed problems are with your internet or computer, not the site, since mine loads just fine. Usually I have the wardrobe up within a minute or two, then I'm able to switch clothes pretty much instantly.

Also, I disagree with your suggestion of having only the clothes we own in the wardrobe, if that were the case, we wouldn't be able to try anything on before we bought it. So, no dream avatars, and avatar contests would be pretty much impossible (or at least a lot less fun). I just think it would take away too much from what a lot of us like in this game.

I'm wireless so connection speed isn't my issue. My processor has 3.80mhz so again, it's not on my end. Not this computer. I've got a lot of sites where the wardrobe equivelent of my possession have a lot more items in it, Gaia in particular comes to mind since I've been a member for many years now, as well as Neopets where I keep an eye on grandkids when it's my turn to do so, again, I've been a member for a very long time, and they load at reasonable speeds even when you figure in lag.


And the wardrobe is the only part of this site that gives me problems, so, either they need an additional server or more bandwidth, or they need to find out whatever is slowing down that function.

As for your suggestion that an NPC shop would disallow you to try on outfits, I'm going to have to contradict you. With correct programming, that can and is done on many, many social sites all over the web. They're upgrading many aspects of this website and it is not unreasonable to request that the wardrobe is included in the upgrade.

For instance, if you don't already have an account on Gaiaonline, get one...it's free of course and is an anime based RP site, btw. Go to any NPC shop on the site and try on anything you like before purchase. In fact, there are toggles below the image of your avatar that allows you to show it with 1. Just that item, 2. with your current outfit and a couple more that shows it in different poses. Also, you can save up to four outfits for free, use gold for additional slots and while there are a few NPC shops that use Gaia Cash, most of them just use gold which means you can fill your inventory very, very fast at no actual cash cost.

The wardrobe is poorly optimized. I've been wanting to recode it for awhile now, but just haven't had the time.

It wouldn't be hard to code the wardrobe to function much, much faster - but it would require a lot of reworking (or scrapping it and starting completely fresh). Either way, it's probably a 1-2 week job.

Under heavy lag though, it shouldn't ever take more than 1-2 minutes to load. If it's literally taking 10 minutes to load, then most likely your internet speed is contributing to the slow load. But, like I said, the wardrobe is poorly optimized and shouldn't take anywhere near that long to ever load. And it's something we'll get fixed as quickly as we can.

Thank you for confirming that. Appreciated. It's moving at dial-up speed, and I'm old enough to remember that. But as I also said, I'm using wireless to satellite and I've got a pretty big dual core processor, so connection and speed isn't the issue. My ram's fine and I can run things like URU on it with ease, so I don't think it's the computer. Not when I can run similar websites and load their version of the wardrobe with ease.

The most important here is internet speed. You can use speedtest.net to see what your download speed is:

Or I can just drop my cursor to the icon in my taskbar and get 5.5Mbps which with this meter with modem I use is about half a point below the max. Like I said, with this connection speed, I can run Gaia, Neopets, Wajas, all parts of this site except the wardrope, Flight Rising, several online boardgames and have up to five windows open with my stories on them on Fanfiction dot net, at the same time.

See that's the kicker, this is all at the same time. I've got a total about fifteen tabs open and again, the wardrobe and only the wardrobe is an issue.

I did open the webpage, and immediately got bombarded by cookies requesting permission to attach to my computer...I've got firefox set to make them ask permission every time. Since five out of seven were ad cookies, I declined them and reported them to AdBlockPlus.

My views on ad tracking cookies is very simple...they're trespassing on private property and I have no tolerance at all. And of course, I"m also running the Better Privacy addon, which removes any flash cookie that attempts to attach itself, instantly. It takes about 1 second. As I said, this computer is my private property and people that attempt stick software of any kind on it without my permission, fail.

Well, you do have a point, I forgot about Gaia's system... I suppose that could work, though personally, I like the wardrobe as it is.

I played Gaia for a while, a few years ago (back in Junior High) and tried coming back periodically since then, but it just never claimed my interest again so I haven't gone back in a long time.


Also, as a quick comment, I also have multiple tabs open at any given time (anywhere from 60, like right now, to 10 tabs) and quite a few of those are Sylestia.

So, anyway, he says he's going to upgrade it and mentioning Gaia gives him something to look at so that maybe we can get something like that. Besides, I'd like to see some NPC shops here anyway. There aren't enough places to spend gold.

As announced earlier, I've recoded the backend part of the wardrobe. It should now perform much much better.
