Hey, awesome to meet another queer person on here! But honestly, I don't know if I'll be much help -- my game with the ladies is bad... like, laughably so. But I wish you the best of luck and if I can help in any way, let me know!
I'm sure that regardless of how you ask (provided it's friendly and not creepy), she'll say yes! You seem very nice, and that's what counts, right?

cant believe I'm gonna say this but....
Just ask, simple and uncolored.
Something like....
"You know, I was thinking of going to the prom accompanied by someone very important to me, someone enough important to make the prom the best day of my life, and I could only think of you, do you want to go with me?"
If she says yes don't scream but enjoy you moment
If she says no your screwed
If she says anything neutral like maybe or let me think about it or I already have someone to go with, dont push it, let thinfs be and react as an understanding person
good luck!

I'd say don't write her a note. From experience, generally when things are written through a note/ text like important things like that, it could be interpreted as "oh, they aren't brave enough to actually say it". So I'd just ask~

Thank you all for the fabulous advice! I straight up asked her and she said she would think about it (crossing my fingers :))
I agree ColonolHazard. I have horrible luck to :P
Kailerie: I straight up said "Will you go to prom with me?" and she stared at me for several seconds then said that she needs to think about it.
Keanai, i wish i had known that back when i was thirteen :P i tried telling this one girl that i liked her through a note, and she hasn't talked to me since

Lol yea notes only work in movies now,
So if she is going to think about it don't push it, just say "ok cool, ill be waiting for your answer, thank you!"
and don't decor the thank you with "baby, honey, darling " or any of the sorts cause that's considered "pushing" the situation

Congrats!! That's awesome that she said yes! I never had the nerve to ask anyone to prom or anything like that myself, ended up going by myself to ball senior year. (Though with awesome friends, so that was fine!) Words... Words are hard when it comes to things like that. x3 So kudos to you for being able to just ask!

Congrats, and speaking of "words" always remember this....
The only words ever heard are those who are spoken
If you don't know "how' to say things just say them as you feel.
