Why is is this a banned word? I just tried to name an ocean going pet for the ocean floor animal called a Sea C u c u m b e r and got 'you included a banned word in your pet's name' warning. Since I've used the words Sea and Trail successfully before, I have to assume you have some idiotic objection to vegetables.

I'm guessing it's because there's a banned word contained within c u c u m b e r, just like s h i t a k e mushrooms, or p e a c o c k would have issues (and several other words with banned words within them that I've come across). The banning program just knows to look for a combination of letters and doesn't recognize that the specific combination might be part of another, completely harmless, word (at least, that's what I understand).

Well, it contains a word that is used as an innuendo in modern pop culture, mostly among teens and young-ish adults.

There are better programs that use an actual DICTIONARY. The programmer simply adds the specific words that are banned. This is just lazy and also, it's a little on the stupid side. But that's mostly because it shows seriously poor choices in programming...and absolutely demonstrates exactly why the choices are poor.

Pretty sure there was a different programmer working on the site before Krinadon. He's currently working on recoding the bulk of the site to make it more efficient, but he is the only programmer working on the site, to make sure it's done correctly this time so it does take time to get to things. It's a possibility that it hasn't been realized or that the coding for ban words is temporary? I can understand why it might not be high on the agenda for the recoding list, but at the same time I can see how this would be awkward.
The suggestion box forum would work best for this problem I think. It's probably just one of many other features that needs to be reprogrammed.

Ehh. I debated whether or not to post about this, but I think I'll just go for it. If I decide I started too much, I'll edit this later to remove it.
I think it does make sense to be upset to not be able to use some words because they contain words that are banned. After all, there are some perfectly harmless words being blocked this way. I do not, however, think that you should be taking such strong offense here to be calling the current system idiotic and lazy. I don't claim to know anything about programming, but I'm going to assume it's not easy. With all the features they're constantly trying to improve, I think this will be on the list. But as it is now, it's not really THAT bad. Just think ripping into the system's flaws and insulting the work put into it is in a bit of poor taste, is all. And again, sorry if this is too rude. I honestly don't intend for it to be. Just hoping for a little more civility, is all.

The word recognition software currently in use precludes the use of larger word-use because the letters might...not 'will be or are', but MIGHT be rearranged into inappropriate slang words.
There is no possible way any sane, intelligent, reasonable person could call that anything but stupid. There are and have been for many years, on the open market, word recognition programs that are dictionary based and which do not include slang terms in their vocabularies and which have a built in 'forbidden' list, to which additional specific words can be added to the banned list, for under $200 dollars.
Considering how much they get in diamond sales, there's no way anyone will be able to convince me they can't just buy and install a decent word recognition software program. It's common sense...and I have very limited patience with people who either don't have any of that or who...and this is far, far worse...have it and never actually use it...because it makes no sense whatsoever.

Just as a heads up, Krinadon is a self-taught programmer. He might not have known about that kind of programming... :/
