I'm sorry if this has been asked (I'm sure it has), I've tried looking but That's a lot of pages. Anyways, I've noticed that there is an item to stop (and another one to start) experience gain. Is there a specific reason to stop a pet's experience gain?

I mean, do they breed better at lower levels or something? Or is it just so special pets, like those prized trophy ones, are in pristine mint condition?

Wanted to ask before I get too far into leveling and breeding, in case the two coincide.

Those were added for the arena. The arena is controlled by level brackets and you can use those philters to keep specific pets within the level brackets without fear of them leveling up into the next bracket.
