Ok, so I'm working on breeding up to these two beauties-

And I'm noticing that while I have alot of pets to work with they also have alot of traits that I'm not looking for. I want to breed down so that I can get rid of the extra genes/mutations, but I'm not quite sure how to go about doing that without completely botching the genes/mutations I DO want. Almost all of my pets that I'm going to be using in my breeding project have Mane Highlights and Unicorn Horn, which are the two I want, but they also have alot of unwanted genes/mutations like Carousel.

Is it possible to breed down with what I have or do I need to look outside of my own stables to do so? I want to breed down until I have pets that only carry Mane Highlights and/or have Mane Highlights and Unicorn Horn as visible traits.

I would appreciate the help and if I wasn't clear on anything please ping me or message me and I'll explain.

This thread is specifically asking about breeding down in relation to my project. As I couldnt find my original Quitari project thread I made a new one and am making sure to keep it bumped.

It's possible to do so, as long as both parents are not visible for the unwanted trait (ie carousel). If at least one parent only has a carry, it can be done. Just keep the baby that has what you want, and less of what you don't want, and use that for further breeding.

So if one parent is a visible, and the other a carry, use the baby that is a carry to breed with others that have carry/nothing. If both parents are not visible, keep the baby that does not have it.

Hope that helps. =)

Ok so correct me if I'm wrong, but if I understand this correctly you're saying if two pets have the same unwanted trait as a vis not to breed them, but if one pet has the trait as a vis and the other has it as a carry then it's ok to breed them. Then if the child comes out without the trait then save it for future breeding.

I hope that made sense. (I find it's easier to breed up than it is to breed down XD)

Yes, that's what I mean.

And it's probably harder to breed down cause it's not so intuitive. =P

Ok awesome! Thank you SO much for clearing that up for me, I really appreciate it.

So I'm not missing anything like I thought I was! And lol You're absolutely right on it not being so intuitive!
