How do I costumize my avatar? I know where the wardrobe button is but what I mean is how do I get outfits? When I'm in the wardrobe I look through all the options and I want to get some of them. I see that in the top left corner of an item, there is a little picture of how I get it. But I still don't understand. Can someone explain to me everything?

This is a guide that has all the items/outfits that you can get and how to get them.
Things with a calendar sign show that it's a monthly item, limited to each month that you can buy with diamonds.
Diamond signs show that it comes from the avatar store that requires diamonds as well.
Maps denote drops from fighting or completing quests or buying form merchants in the overworld area, such as in dungeons and stuff.
Suns denote festival items, items you can only get from festivals.

Wrote this like 45 min ago but forgot to press enter. Just posting cause I spent the time. aha.
There are currently 6 different ways to get wearable items.
(1) Explore: The icon is of the explore map. (a) After winning a battle with your pets, the opponent might drop an item. (b) After you get to the 3rd area, the way of exploring changes. And while exploring in the 3rd zone, you can find NPC's who will sell you wardrobe items.
(2) Towns: The gold symbol means that you can buy this item in a town. Though note that you will have to use the town's currency to buy it. How you earn a town's currency depends on the town. eg. zone 2 you do quests. zone 3 you compete in the gladiator arena. You can also buy a town's currency on the trade broker by setting 'Type' to 'Badges and Tokens'.
(3) Diamond shop items: Items that have a diamond as the icon mean they are available for purchase in the diamond shop. They will always be there, no time limit. Can buy with real money here or buy from other players with in game money here.
(4) Monthly items: The icon is a calendar. These can be found here. They change every month and can only be bought with diamonds. So the ones you currently see in the wardrobe you can't get because the month has already passed. Can buy with real money here or buy from other players with in game money here. Note that they occasionally bring back old monthly items (has happened once so far during Christmas/End of the year I believe).
(5) Forum game items: The icon is actually of one of the admins/creators of the site, Faiona. These items are awarded as special prizes sometimes for official forum games found here. Forum games generally only happen during festivals. Sylestia usually runs 4 festivals a year: summer, fall, winter, spring. There is currently a festival going on, so definitely feel free to participate. c:
(6) Festivals: The icon indicates that the item can be gotten during a festival. Again, there are usually runs 4 festivals a year: summer, fall, winter, spring. Past festival items are generally much harder to get than current ones. You can buy festival items here. Though note that you need festival currency to buy them. To get festival currency you can fight bosses and do whatever the festival event is in the festival zone. You can also buy festival currency on the trade broker by setting 'Type' to 'Badges and Tokens'.
There are currently 2 different ways to get features such as ears, hair, eyes, etc.
(1) Diamonds: Can buy with real money here OR buy from other players with in game money here. You buy directly from the wardrobe.
(2) AP: These are points that are automatically awarded as you win battles with your pets in explore. The amount of AP earned is determined by difference between the level of the enemies you are fighting and your user level found on your profile
For the future, you'll probably get replies quicker in this forum.

You spend AP through the wardrobe. Just click on the picture of the feature you want to buy and a popup will appear.
