And it never gives me the option to feed the adults.

In the stables there's a button that says "Feed Pets" However pets aren't getting hungry right now. Hunger is frozen until the stables are finished being updated. ^^

What Talyn said. The stables are in the middle of an upgrade so the pets won't have to eat for now. Enjoy it while you can. :)
