I'm on the "Interrogate the Interrogators" quest, and I'm trying to beat the bandit leader in the Fungus Grove.... and I just keep getting slaughtered.

I'm using Aranes and Un-named (my random starter). They've both got glass cannon stats (Aranes is magical, Un-named is physical). I'd be using the canon/tank/canon set up from the guide, but I don't have my third battle slot unlocked.

What all am I doing wrong? Have I statted them wrong? Do I need to get some gear for them? Is this just newbie bad luck?

I recommend getting a new relic for Aranes. The current one you have has split damage, which is worthless. Also, yes, equipping your second pet will help - I recommend Myrmidon equipment :)

I've been having the same problem. Each and every time, I get my butt beaten into the dirt. It sucks, because for the past several months all I've done on here is purchase people's Sylesti's and grind gold in Trollsblight Caverns. All of the grinding gets boring after awhile, and I'd really like to move on to the next area.

I checked out Kalapini and Aurora.

First, all the equipment are lvl5, while you're at lvl18. I suggest looking at this list of equipment set names to find out what's compatible to your level, and go into the trade broker and look for proper equipment of the purple or blue quality for your pets.

Also, I'm not sure what damage your pets should be outputting. I suggest building your first pet (whatever's the middle pet in your battles) to have more HP, as it will be the one that gets hit the most.

You should make your second pet more attack-oriented. So pick either strength OR intelligence, and equip it best to build that stat.

It's best to put level up points into one or two stats, not even them out across all 4. I found that to be helpful when I stat my pets for battle.

Stuck on this quest as well - are there any potions to revive health that can be used during battle? I have the standard restore elixir I, standard restore potion I, and fairy mushrooms ~ all of these it wouldn't let me use during battle to regain health or mana.

You can use elixirs during battle, but you cannot access them from your inventory. On the battle page there is a red arrow at the bottom right of the screen. Click this and it will give you access to anything you are allowed to use while in a battle. You can also use this screen to move your pets around in the line-up.

I had the exact same problem when I started!

When you get to the third zone, the layout is much much better and finding your elixirs is way easier :) They just haven't updated that area yet.
