I referred two of my friends, they joined, and when I checked my referrals page it says that they're referred members, but my Referral rank didn't go up. Is this normal?

In order to gain referral ranks your friends have to fight so many battles, nurture so many pets, and breed so many times.
The page that explains all of this is rather hard to find.... and seems like there should be a link to it on the settings page. I have no idea where it is!
