Hello,

I was just wondering about the rules with battling. Does 'weakening' a pet during a battle make it easier to use a trap on? I also cannot find that much information on finding pet essences. How does it apply to battles at all? Any other newbie tips would be amazing! Thanks anyone and everyone!

I also don't understand how 'dressing' your avatar works. There are a lot of outfits and stuff under the ITEMS tab, but it only lets me 'preview' them even though they are (0 gold). . . ?

I'm fairly new too, but I can try to answer a few questions.

b]Essences. Yeah, I believe you can get essences while playing in-game. I think the odds are fairly low, but I did get one in the Dungeon (Aurleon Essence) yesterday. It was a 3-green-star Aurleon that dropped it. So I'm not sure if it was scripted or luck, but I think there is a chance of getting it. (Then again, you can always buy one).

Essences help generate pets. So like, if you got a ______ Essence, you can head over to the generator and get the Essence transformed into a pet. Essences of different quality give more customization options or accuracy (Regular < Enhanced < Mystical).

Pet essences can be found through many means, although they are not overly common. They can be received through purchase at either the trade broker or diamond shop. There is also a chance (albeit a slim one) of receiving an essence after a battle or successful nurture. Even Jinxie's Jamboree can give you essences if you are lucky.
For avatar items, you can only use them if you have received the item and put it in your wardrobe (referring exclusively to the items section). You will know which items you own because they will have a white background (which turns green when you equip the item). The items you don't own will have a gray background, although you can still preview them in the wardrobe, they will not be equipped to your avatar.

I think that lowering their health does help. Each kind of trap will also let you know what kind of rarities of sylesti it is strong enough for. Strong traps > Standard trap > Lesser Snare

This is a question that is asked a lot and there is a lot of answers for it. A lot of the older players will say no there is no difference if you weaken pets because in the beginning this was the case, however I do believe it was confirmed that since one of the big updates (I believe it was the release of the new region and battle system) there is a small (and I mean not really much point in having small) raise in chance of capturing a pet when its health has been lowered.


My suggestion to you and all others who see this asking the same question is Don't risk it. What I do is I attempt to catch first go and if that does not work (depending on the traps I have to use, the more expensive the less inclined I am to use a lot of traps. My max is 4 after that the pet was obviously not meant to be caught) maybe give it a little love tap with a pet (just one not all three if you have the slots) this will either help or it wont.

I also suggest you set yourself a limit on traps, If its a pet you really want, and I mean REALLY Want, and it does not co-operate (lets say its a rare pet with a cool gene/mut and pretty colours

weakening: yes a very little bit
essence: the first answer is accurate, you can find essence through trades(trade broker, auction etc.) or buy using diamonds in the diamond shop, U can also find them as a reward from battles or missions, this is very slim, u can also get essence from nurturing, ex: u nurture a zolnixi, u will have a chance of getting its essence. I think the type of essence though depends on the hatchling, or eggling(when it hatches). I found I get enhanced essence usually when I nurture babies with 4 or more genepoints. You can also find essence from the scale shop, when u pop open a golden egg, there is a chance that it will give u essence. Jinxie jamboree sometimes gives them away.
essence to battles: it doesn't apply, except for the fact that you can create a sylesti from the essence or possibly win essence from a battle.
clothes: only certain clothing items can be purchased from the wardrobe. Anything not in the item tab can be purchased with AP: ABility points or diamonds. Stuff in the items tab can actually be purchased from players at an auction, trade broker, etc. NPCs will drop certain items from this tab, the items with a sun in the corner are event items, meaning you can normally only find them during a specially event, like the summer festival that is coming up. Items can be found in golden eggs, although this is normally true during events, I don't think it is otherwise, you can win items from minigames that the admins host, such as the eggling auction, door game, etc. you can buy items from the diamond shop. when u get to astyls vale you will find you can purchase items from npcs, and certain enemies drop certain items, ex: You can get vorkid wings from the vorkids, zombies drop limbs, etc.
