It there a search for pets for sale? All I can find is in the forum if someone lists that they have some for sale or when I am nuturing eggs and hatchlings I ran across a few.

Go to the advanced search page and enter "yes" for the "for sale" option. :)

Thanks for the link, but where is it usually found? I don't see it in any of the drop downs.

Depending on the layout of the page you're using.
In the forums, the layout has the advanced search on the left side as Katasaur showed above.
In places like your stables, it's found at the top:
Confirm Action

Confirm Action
Are you sure you wish to report this post?
