Okay so I have absoulutly no clue on how you get essences... I have been told in battle by someone but still haven't gotten one and have fought quite a bit(well according to my standards of course? Okay and completely off topic but how do you unlock different map areas?

You can get essences from battling pets, nurturing them, receiving them from Jinxie's Jamboree and receiving them from satchels and treasure boxes. There are also many available on the trade broker and I frequently hand them out as prizes for forum games. If you don't like any of those options then you can also purchase them from the Diamond Shop.

In regards to unlocking map areas, you just play through the story line and you'll unlock the available areas. Currently only Viridian Meadows and Umbra Forest are unlocked.

Also is that for the whole sylestia that only those two are unlocked or has others unlocked some?

The drop rates for essences are random and that is for the entire game with the regions that are currently unlocked.

how do you use genetic mutators?

When you obtain a mutator, visit a pet's profile and click the 'Genetic Philter' button. Then select the mutator from the list and use it.

Wait, so the only places that users can explore are Umbra Forest and Viridian Meadows?

But, what about the other regions? Are those never going to be unlocked to play or are they still being worked on? =\
