I feel like I've suggested this before, but in case I haven't, I popped back in thinking for some reason it might have been added, but lo and behold I can still only choose two binary genders, neither of which fit me. An 'other' option would be best of the three I listed, but the other two would be sufficient, I suppose.

I always wonder why some sites still don't have this option as many others have made it standard for more than a decade!

As nice as something like this would be it'd be to much additional work to add a 3rd option. Every outfit, item, and style would have to have a 3rd option, adding not only extra costs to the site owners, but extra weight on the servers, slowing down the site. This is the same reason they can't update the avatars we have currently.

I would suggest that perhaps the site make a 3rd option, and every new outfit from here on out could have the 3rd option, while old ones are left to the 2 binary genders with some exceptions, however I don't think that'd satisfy people either.

Additionally, this isn't an avatar site, its a pet site. If you are here for the avatars, I hate to tell you this but there are better websites for making and customizing avatars. This site was made as a pet website, for breeding, collecting, and battling pets.

For now, unfortunately, your best bet would probably to use the male base and give it the features you want. But don't get me wrong, I support it, I just understand that it's most likely not going to happen.

I was talking about the profile options. It's a simple extra line of code as far as I know.

Where on earth did I ever mention the avatars? I can make my avatar ambiguous without much trouble, I think. This site is EXCELLENT about making its clothes unisex, and I've always loved that.

EDIT: Hum, although now that I look around a bit, I can't actually see where the profile option is displayed, so that's good, at least. The third option would still be more comfortable to have though! <3 I always hate having to choose one or the other when I join sites, and it causes me some amount of stress, however minor it might be.

I feel you, Clockwork. Non-binary is in a hilarious minority, even amongst trans people. What I find helps is if you just pick whatever gender you're feeling closest to that day. And, if it's neither, wait a day and see how you feel. I may be a little more gender-fluid than you, I don't know, but that's what works for me.

Sylestia is awesome because it doesn't actually display your gender anywhere on the site, and you can do whatever you wish with the avatars, not being locked into the gendered model of whichever you picked. It's really sweet, but sometimes, yeah, it does rankle that I had to pick one or the other.

I look forward to the day when everywhere has an unspecified or third option, but for now, we make do.

I'm sorry if I came off as rude or anything, I really didn't intend it to! Additionally I'm sorry if I offended you in any way. I have plenty of trans friends, although as far as I know, I don't know anyone gender fluid or gender ambiguous(I sit with a large group of people and many of them I don't know their names/sexuality/pronouns/ect due to never directly interacting with them), and I fully support and respect them. And sorry I assumed you meant the avatars.

Hey, thanks, you two! Yeah it's usually a head scratcher for me having to pick one or the other--at least here you can swap 'em whenever, and it's not shown, but...whew there's one site I use that you pick your gender on and you can never ever change it! ;A; They have unisex clothes for all their avvies too, at least. Better than nothing!

I'm glad NB is finally getting more recognition, slow as it is. It's weird that I only really knew what to call it recently, but looking back, it suddenly made a LOT of things make sense...

I also like the avatars and clothing on here, as it is mostly unisex :)
Also good that gender isn't shown to others, but an extra choice (or a few) would be useful when actually selecting gender.

This information is only used so we know a rough estimate of the gender split of our player base. Since it's not used for anything else, I have decided to remove it from being displayed on the Settings page.

That's sensible enough, but you have at least two people here who are NB--wouldn't you like to know about us too so we don't skew your data? xD

It's really not an important enough info-gathering feature to worry about at all. We mainly just use Google Analytics now for all of the demographic information so there's really not much of a reason to have it on the Site at this point.
