i keep running into armies of the undead
and in the Garden of the Magnates im running into one army thats just killing me once the 4 stars come out
does anyone have any suggestions aside from hoard up on potions?

You can try to level up in other areas other than the garden, because that battle instance will always be there as your main story quest.
You can also level up your pets with missions, which you should probably do. I always prefer to take a break from the main storyline to level up, give it a day or so and come back with more levels. There's also making sure your pets' equips are up to par level wise.

Don't kill the 1 stars. They'll stay there and do less damage while you take down the higher levels one by one.
