Did the choice you make to go to Jinxie or help the Guardsmen impact whether or not he dies?

I feel awful about it because I went after Jinxie, I thought he'd be fine...

I was thinking Jinxie was someone we should always help. His dying was unexpected. :c

I'm starting to wonder if having unfinished Quest
(the side ones), might affect this, but it's just
